What determines the order of food people eat first and how to get them eat certain food first over others?
Title. I'm annoyed at my people eating all my ration packs and foods like gohan first when I have several stacks of dried meat on my garru. Is there some way the game determines what people eat first? Do they choose the backpack of the unit nearest to the front of the squad list or is it based on how nutritious the food is or how it's placed inside the backpack? I've noticed garru and hivers seem to prefer raw meat over foul, and scorchlanders raw over dried, so some way to get them not to eat the raw first?

It seems to be a messy mix of putting high nutrition as a high priority but raw meat is thrown up there as well (likely to prolong the life of food edible by everyone). Best I could think of is to put the food you want them to eat in the party's inventories, which is still a 'meh' solution (assuming I'm remotely correct).

system is relatively smart.

as far as i noticed, if character can eat raw or foul meat, he will eat it first, leaving other food types for party members that can't eat "bad" food.

rest handled by inventory order, first item to eat is topleft slot.

High nutrition > Low nutrition

Although if you put food in your bag they will eat food in your inventory first. Even if it's nutrition is lower.

It may be a bit different with raw and foul meat. I usally dont play hivers and even if I do I cook or steal high nutrition food.

What if I have dried meat and a cube, dried meat first. All in my inventory. First the cube? or by inventory order? I would always want them to eat the less nutrition first, that saves inventory space

Since this was never explained fully, and has now been brought back up, I'll post the full logic as I know it here.

1. Lowest NU relative to max NU, if tie move to 2. (e.g. It will take an item at 25% before a 50%, and a 50% before a 100%, etc.)
2. Highest NU value, if tie move to 3.
3. Lowest monetary value, if tie random.

If there is an eligible restricted food item, that will take priority over normal food. If there is more than one restricted item, it follows the same logic as above.

If there is no eligible food in main inventory, they will look at backpacks starting from their own, then checking the squadmate in the top left of the squad, and then each squadmate in order from left to right. When it finds an eligible backpack, it will use the logic above to select a food item.

Does anybody know if there's a way to lower the threshold for when characters eat? I'm trying to be a hungry bandit which means staying hungry. It would be cool if I didn't have to manage that manually. Everyone knows how to change hunger rate but how about how to change the threshold for when they eat?

I think that might be something we cannot mod. Otherwise that mod would already exist.
