i don't use the prisoner mod
There are files called editor limits which are assigned to each playable race that allow you to edit the race's appearance. It sounds like you have one or more corrupted editor limits file. Try revalidating your data. If that doesn't work, right click on the game in your library, click properties, then look for browse local files. This will open a window showing the game's files. Next open the folder called Data and look for a folder called editor. Delete that folder. Then revalidate your files and it will download the editor files again. Then see if it works.
Also, it's possible that there's a mod conflict if you use mods.
but the problem is - i can open task manager but can't get it as an active window
Do you play stable or experimental? If it's the second, try switching to the first though your save game might act funny if you don't do an import after switching to stable.
stable
Press "Windows Key + Tab" and create a new desktop using the plus sign at the bottom right. You should now be able to open your task manager in the new desktop environment and kill the application.
However if your task manager is still on desktop 1 behind the frozen application you need to press "WinKey + Tab" again to switch to desktop 1 (by clicking the icon at the bottom of your screen). Now press " WinKey + tab" again and drag & drop your task manager window onto desktop 2 at the bottom. Now switch back to Desktop 2 and you are able to access the task manager.
hopefully this helps so you don't need to reboot your PC every time :)
