Holy Seal not working?
Hey everyone, its me again (sorry!)
Im having a little issue and would really appreciate some assistance!! <33

First off, when I redeem a Holy Seal with a patrol, how long will they follow me for?

For my main question....
I spoke to the Holy Phoenix and after accepting a mission to help fight the Shek ( ya right, im not that dumb ) I got a message saying that I received a "Holy Seal".

I couldnt find it in my inventory so I spoke to him a few more times repeating the same dialogue option and each time I would received a Holy Seal.... Anyway, after leaving the throne room I wanted to make sure I actually got the Seal(s) since I couldnt actually see them in my inventory, so I tested it by seeing if I could ask a HN guard/patrol for assistance which I could, but I didnt ask for help, I just ended the dialogue instead.

So I figured "Heck, I better grab a few more of these for the road". This time I had a different character talk to the Phoenix to claim the Holy Seals (incase the other character gets KOed, the second character can use the Seal to ask for assistance). I repeated the dialogue option a few times with this second character thinking I was getting several Holy Seals.

Heres the problem, now NONE of my human characters (with or without the Seal) even have the ability to talk to the HN patrols/ guards, even the same exact NPC I had just spoken to when I tested the Seal moments ago. Now when I mouse over them I just get a green arrow instead of the speech bubble I got before.

What exactly did I do wrong here?
Can only one character claim the Holy Seal at a time? And if more than one person gets a Holy Seal they all bug out and not work?
Did I only get one Holy Seal despite receiving multiple "received holy seal" messages and when I spoke to the patrol guy it technically used it even though I did not actually ask for help?
And when I spoke to the Phoenix the second time and got the "received Holy Seal" messages, I wasnt actually getting any? These are the reasons I can think of....

To recap:
1) Holy Phoenix gave character 'A' several Holy Seals by repeating dialogue.
2) Character A was able to engage in dialogue options with HN patrol where he could ask for help but DID NOT ask for help and just ended the dialogue instead.
3)Character 'B' repeats the same exact process to receive several Holy Seals from Phoenix
4) Now none of my human characters are able to engage in dialogue whatsoever even with the SAME EXACT GUARD I spoke to moments earlier.

Id like to clarify: This was my first time speaking to the Phoenix.
There was a patrol walking through town passing by the throne room, this is who i spoke to right after leaving the throne room the first time. Then I ran back into the throne room and left, the same patrol had not made it far so I am certain it was the same guard I spoke to both times. However, there was also a HN guard standing guard on the porch of the inquisitors building across the road that had a speech bubble appear when I moused over him the first time, which also isnt happening now.

I did also go and find an entirely new patrol and again, none of the characters were able to engage in dialogue.

I know this was a lot but I wanted to include all the info possible.
I sincerely appreciate how helpful everyone is and I thank you in advance <3
xoxo

The holy seal is an actual item, so I'd say that's the core of the issue.

Did these characters have room for the seal in their pockets? Only reason I can imagine them not being given it.

Also important to note, the seal is not consumed on use. It can be used infinitely, though I believe there is a cooldown.

Okay, so after reading your answer I just went all the way back and loaded a previous save before my meeting with the Phoenix, blessed be his name, and this time when he gave me the Holy Seal I did receive it in my inventory. Its just a 1x1 grey square with no actual image of anything though, is this normal? When I mouse over it it says "Holy Seal....blah blah etc etc".
And yes, I had enough room in my inventory before. Sometimes with this game we will never know exactly why certain things do and dont work hahaha. :P

Im curious though, how long will the Paladins follow me when I ask for help? Im assuming half of a day or something... It was given to me when we were speaking about attacking the Golem / Flotsam Ninjas so I assumed they would need to at least follow me long enough to run to Admag/ Flotsam vilage. If not, its pretty worthless lol.

The way the Holy Seal looks in my inventory, the 1x1 square with no actual graphic image of an item, I found another item that does the same thing. It was in a Nobles House and theyre called Coins... the description is: Trading material based on one of the old civilizations monetary systems. It only has a value of 60, but I hadnt seen these anywhere else before so I took them. Do they serve any purpose? If not ill just drop em :)

Thank you so much for all your help too. You are by far, without a doubt the best moderator I have ever seen on any Steam game discussion board. You are very active and very helpful. Many thanks to you (:

I believe it technically does have an icon, it just doesn't render well in the inventory. It is set to autogenerate the icon based on its mesh, but the mesh is just a coin (which explains the other one matching it). I think the icon is a picture of the coin, but from the side. So it would just be a slight line in the icon, barely noticeable. :P

As for how long it lasts, it should be for 36 in-game hours that they follow you. With the possibility to extend it based on what is happening at the time it expires, generally if in a fight or if you are downed they will extend it to help out.

I also note the cooldown triggers even if you do not ask them to help. Simply initiating the dialog where you can ask for help will start the 6 in-game hour cooldown. So you probably had it the first time and didn't notice due to the icon, and then after you initiated the dialog you were in the cooldown phase, so you couldn't trigger it again.

And thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to help. :)

Edit: Oh yeah, the coin things from the nobles. No they serve no purpose. They are technically supposed to be a money item that adds 1 cat, but their function isn't set correctly, so they are just a worthless piece of metal.
