EXE - Content File Locked - EXE is Not Visible

I've seen others with this type of issue online, none of which have resulted in a resolution for me.

Experiencing:
> 06/04/2019 - Played 4 Hours of vanilla Kenshi
> 07/04/2019 - Played 4 Hours of vanilla Kenshi.
> 08/04/2019 - Installed "Nice Maps" Mod, then attempted to play....

> Steam Startup loop. "Validating Files" in the manner of an "update". No download actually taking place. Took 3-10 Minutes to complete.
> Error resulted, stating missing exe file, and "content file is locked".
> exe file is not actually visible within the Kenshi folder.
> No Antivirus Software has flagged anything at this time.
> On seeing people talking about anti-virus hits online for this issue, I ran AVG anti-virus scan, received a hit on the said exe file that was not visible. Requested that AVG ignore it.
> Also added exe file path to AVG exception list.
> Validating Files, showing as 100%, despite the missing exe file.
> Backed up save files.
> Uninstalled Kenshi.
> Reinstalled Kenshi
> Hit Play. Steam Startup Loop resulting in missing file again.
> The exe, i can't find it in AVG's quarantine area. AVG doesn't pick up this file again if i search under the Steam Folder.

What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on? It's pissing me right off.

Getting Locked Content, or Missing Exe

Cheers Neko. I've seen your posts all over the show helping people out, including this one you link me to.

AVG Recognises Kenshi as a DND application by the file path of the exe. That was prior to it flagging as a hit when it let me play the game. It's not showing as having quarantined the exe, despite flagging it. It doesn't make any friggin' sense.

And the game is stuck stating "download paused" in my library now.

try restarting steam. see if that helps
or even your computer.

unfortunately this is a issue with one of your software packages. usually antivirus.
after this you could also do a google search for locked content.
wish i could help more but this really is not game related issue and nothing we can really do to help fix.

All we can do is offer suggestions for you to try.

Delete kenshi. Turn off AVG. ReDL Kenshi with AVG off. Set an exception to the file AND copiy that file and place it directly in a folder on your C: drive for backup.

Of course, there is the wider user-base i'd be interested in hearing from also.

That said, i leave it to anyone to chip-in on the post if they can, otherwise I'll chime back in if the issue is resolved, on the back of your suggestions.

Cheers for that mate, i'll give it a go tomorrow. (AVG) I've never seen it act this jittery before. It's a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥, but I love it too. haha.

one last thing. If using win10, it could be win 10's wonky UAC, cant help you there. I still love my windows 7.

Adding an Exception to the Kenshi "Folder" did the trick. Thanks Rowdy.

AVG>Menu>Settings>General>Exceptions

Initially i'd added an exception to what would be the "exe"'s file path which wasn't working. Such a simple fix, for such a pain in the ass.
