But, to be honest, I always recommend disabling the Steam Overlay for any game that shows signs of having mouse issues. It's notorious for causing such problems. (Resolution mismatch issues, dead-clicks, etc)
I always disable the Steam Overlay for just this reason. Always. If you must use it, just plan ahead and enable it temporarily and disable it when you want to really... play. :)
If you suddenly lose control but your mouse if perfectly fine otherwise this is likely what's going on
Few questions:
1) Did everything work fine before? If, what has changed?
2) Are you in the swamp? That is a very laggy place
3) Do you use Fullscreen? That has been broken years and won't be fixed, use Borderless
4) Steam Overlay? Off
