Ironman mode/mod?
I feel like I'm taking out all the challenge there is in this game by savescumming and I lack the self-control not to just reload a save when something less than ideal happens. Is there an Ironman mode or mod I don't know about?

Games like Battle Brothers or Mount and Blade really only show their peak potential when you play with all consequences and an Ironman mode enforces that.

Nope.

Just have to do it if you want it to happen.

Might I suggest a singular save point instead of constant saving. A spot where you're ready to go on into the world with your current group but arent that strong yet.

Not quite iron man but it might deter.you from feeling like you need to constantly reload saves.

Looks like it was atleast being considered, hope the devs get back to this

not ideal but unbinding quicksaves and disabling autosaves might just do it heh.

I think the game doesnt need an ironman mode, you can play like that if you really want. In my case i always play like that, after 1200 hours in this game i like to go back to those days of suffering and frustation when i was a newbie so i never load previous saves, try to pause the game as less as posible and set x2 the hunger rate and monsters nests (A great dessert fully of skimmers and slavers is scary). Sometimes is necesary load the game due to bugs. Yesterday one guard knocked my only character and started to run around the city "shopping" while i was bleeding, i would die and lose all my gameplay if i didnt load a save.

I also feel that Kenshi has too much stuff going around to make for a pleasant true ironman.
Even games like XCOM occasionally eff you over with an unfortunate glitch, which is why i always mod in the ability to entirely restart a mission even during ironman.
Or like with Battle Brothers when you lose a high end character just like this to a couple 5% hits to the head, in the moment you're like bull****, but once things cool down you realize that bad luck is also part of the experience, not everything has to be fair.
But it takes restraint not to abuse save scumming.

That said some players want to have to deal with the challenge but know they won't resist the temptation when hit hard.

I lost Agnu, Beep, my packbull and all my goats safe one to a crazy HN raid i underestimated, and it took a lot of restraint not to just casually load back 10 minutes ago like nothing happened.
But now i weep their death and my playthrough took an unexpected turn.

If you want a semi ironman experience i suggest you only do hard saves when you're about to exit the game, and otherwise rely on autosaves only. You can even increase the time between each autosave if you feel they happen too often.

Yea you have to deal with bad luck in ironman games, like XCOM or Crusaders Kings, thats fine for me.But that wasnt exactly what i mean. The point of my previous message was that an ironman mode on a game with this ammount of glitches and bugs is not the best of the ideas, some of them can ruin hours of playthrough like the one i already said with that guard running forever trying to shop.

Here is another bug: 2 days ago a HN priest came to my base for pray, i was ready for praise Okran with my Holy Frame but when the priest arrove i couldnt speak with him,a bug. Honestly i dont want to face a HN raid and ruin my playthrough for a bug so i simply saved and load the game, then i could speak with him, its not bad luck its just a bug so that savescumming was necesary.

I think the real joy of this game is that sometimes you lose but never at all, there is always a benefit in losing or missing something. If you fall on the habit of savescum....man this game become so easy and you let a lot of fun pass by. Nobody forces you to savescum, so simply dont do it and play your desired ironman mode. As Niklasgunner said its about selfcontrol.

Add ironman. The game would be perfect for it. PERFECT. It's a VERY small thing to implement I'd assume and its OPTIONAL so not sure why people discourage it being added as an OPTION.

There's a pretty low chance it's gonna happen. :P You could just play it normally and take the consqeuences seriously. Half your team captured by cannibals? (which you've spent 20 hours training) No reloading allowed.

Kenshi is plenty punishing. You just gotta get rid of the saving mindset. :emofdr:

I'm a newbie here, I've basically been only playing ironman and didn't even think about it. I don't load my saves if something goes wrong as it just more fun just playing through the game and enjoying all my mistakes. Really doesn't need an option for ironman, just don't load your saves when everything goes South, like I accidently started a tavern brawl at a Waystation and 3 of my 4 guys got instantly K.O'ed and almost lost 2 to blood loss, was funny but I just continued once I healed em.
