Kenshi
Advice for starting as a hiver or over non human.
Iv asked for advice before but pretty much all of it was for starting as a human. Before anyone points out that starting as a human wouid be better for starting the game, but playing a human is boring when you dont have to.Plus regardless ill have to know this eventually.
This is assuming im starting in the hub

Thank you in advance.

- Don't be in Holy Nation land. They hate everyone that is not human. They hate Skeletons more.

- Wear armor that covers most of your limbs if you're going Hiver. Or don't, if you can afford the limb prosthetics.

- Hivers and Skeletons are immune to acid, but like any organic being Hivers still need to breathe and can get burned or blinded by dust.

- In Hub, mine ore and buy a place for cheap. boost your strength and toughness. Get the crap beaten out of you by Hungry Bandits since they have blunt weapons.

- UC land is more toleratable, but they have a gang that harrasses non-humans. Visit at your own discretion.

- Go Hive Prince or Worker. Soldiers are mainly focused on combat and have negative stat progression that is slow to grind in other stats.

- Hivers don't need to eat much and they can run fast.

its not easy if you don't know what you are doing. the real problem with that kind of start is that you can't easily travel through the central and easiest part of the map.

you'll still have access to the united cities and shek territory, but they are in significantly more dangerous.

other than that there isn't much difference from a human start, so you can take the normal advice on what to do. you just have to be a bit more cautious.

The problem is the default/recomended start starts you in the hub and i dont really wont to screw with my start right now.

Try to avoid fighting bladed enemies to make experience (Starving Bandits are perfect).
Go the thief route, Hivers (except warriors) have nice stats for an early thieving career.
Good point of being a Hiver is that you'll also eat very few.

All in all, if you plan of playing solo (or with a small squad) Hivers are easier at the beginning than later on, as your limbs (and head) will always be a very weak spot, but then again you can replace them.

you don't have to stay there. that town has very little to offer. you CAN stay there though.
the hub borders shek territory to the south west so you can go there for any shopping/trading. getting to the united cities in the ne desert from there is a bit trickier because you can't go through hn or black desert (unless you are all hiver/skeletons). and getting to the uc cities to the south means going through some nasty critters. ..actually going to the desert also means nasty critters.

bugs everywhere.

im playing an all hiver playthrough in the uc northern desert territories tbh bar the sand ninjas and outlaw farmers which can be easily outrun when you get athelectics up and travel low encumberance between the well placed citys and slaver camps the only major threat are skimmers the city heros can be a nusiance but only have iron sticks and leather armor for gear and there stats arnt all that high

uc territories have high hiver recuit poulation and you can get more hiver recuits by freeing them from the many slaves camps and even the slave shops in the citys

make big cash by rum running to the swamps and bringing back hashish to uc lands you'll need an alliance with the ninja theives (cost 10,000 cats) to sell hash on mass in the citys always approach the gates with a character who has no drugs in inventory or bag first in case the guards do an illegal goods check

starting out early a tactic you can use is occupieing the old villiage south west of the the south slave port or if you go north form sho battai you will find the city heros outpost, fort mirrage kiteing i.e leading sand ninjas or big bands of out law farmers there will result in the city heros and lord mirrage either been downed or well weakened if you can take get them wiped out fort mirrage is yours (sort of) you can use the beds lv 3 training dummies and i think the stove depending on wind power also its a y house that has turrets on the roof and a gud door that al keep out the dogs and skimmers , no one seems to ocupie the place when you wipe out the residents so whilst you dont tecnically own it it makes a gud early game hide out safe and free from uc taxes

if you have a non hiver character in your squad send them to the north west of fort mirrage to the two distant hive villiges they sell HASH!!! easier to get early game thana trip to the swamps not to mention less time consuming and less dangerous, sell to the bar thieves in the citys and you still get the big plus on illegel guds but the hivers sell at most 10 has at a time usually 2 to 5 at each villige

What territory would that be, sorry.

shek? to the southwest of the hub is the city of squin. west of squin is the capital admag. there are also a couple of waystations to the south east and south west.

shek territory is 'reasonably' safe. some dust bandits, some hostile shek, few skin spiders.

if you can get theivery and stealth up (easier for hive workers/princes) the hub surrounding reigen can be a gold mine, shek territories the base with a castle and swords (millitary forgot what their called) stealing planks and frag axes can get 40,000 plus a trip and more,, selling to nearby hivers if you have a non hiver in squad makes selling stolen easy but can be done at the hubs two trade ninja bars.

hivers sell hash but the illegal bonus is not as high in shek and holy nation citys and you dont get the suggling bonus from the trade ninjas in the hub, still profitible and there are more hivers villiges in the reigen at least 8 so you can buy on mass, sell on mass

if you dont have non hiver the hiver territory can still be profitible by finding gutter nests kitein them to nearby hivers villiges or stealing under stealth at night just makes sure you have gud atheletics a good bag and dont steal to much at once other wise over encumberance will slwo you down and get you killed and maby eaten

i usually use all the profits from doing this to buy up all the buildings in the hub on mass and take over and rebuild the town also even if you try to k.o the holy nation outlaws fail and they attack you for some reason at the minute the trade ninjas seem to come out of the bar and start genocideing all the outlaws so you can get some gud gear and weapons early game if you wanna exploit lol
