Kenshi
Assassinate does NOTHING of what the skill says.
If you only wanted a game with a Stealth KO, then stop calling it assassination. I've been playing stealth assassin characters for so long and this is clearly an insult to all stealth game lovers. I could have played a stealth game, but none of them have the appeal of a sandbox RPG with survival mechanics. Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 has them, but none of them requres you to start as a nobody.

I'm uninstalling the game for wasting hours of my time trying to train my Assassination skill.

You literally start as a nobody in fallout new vegas, and FO4 your almost a nobody (to everyone except two people).

Not sure what the issue is, can't you finish the assassination once you KO'd them stealthily?

Things I've learned in Kenshi:

'Assassinate' means stealth knockout.
'Attack' means attack, but only until they are unconscious.
Everything else is 'Operate machine'.

They didnt want to make it too easy. Nobody cares if you uninstall. There is more to the game than stealth KO.

I agree with your point. As a fellow stealth-lover, having stealth but no back-stab option to kill is pretty lame. We also can't turn the lights on/off for buildings not our own. Then again, the squad mechanic can be pretty interesting since we can create distractions xD

Uninstalling is a pretty drastic reaction though. There is more to Kenshi other than stealth so I hope you stay and play, though.

As for stealth with survival mechanics, you could try This War of Mine and How to Survive 1 & 2. I vaguely recall we can use stealth to not get noticed by enemies. Correct me if I'm wrong. They aren't sand box gamess though. Cheers.

You might like playing "Kingdom Come:Deliverance" Stealth assassination in that game is stupidly easy.

Actually it's quite worthless in that game, the only ones you can easily kill with stealth are peasants and the like, any good soldier will ALWAYS just throw you around and blow your cover, then everyone will immediately know you're there... it's quite furstrating actually.

Though I agree with the OP in that it really shouldn't be called assassination since you don't assassinate anyone by doing it, should be just called "stealth KO".

I believe that it was in the game at one point. It was set up to get a quick knockdown and then kill the unconscious npc. However the npcs were doing it to the pc too often to the point that if you where knocked out, someone would kill you. It was then removed for gameplay reasons right or wrong.

Just being able to do the stealth knock out is OP as hell without the ability to kill them. With stealth close to 100 and Assassination skill over 50, you can capture just about any NPC in the game with little chance of getting caught.

In KCD Thats how it is if you have no skill. Once you get some skill you can kill anyone and everone with practiced ease. But, maybe they have changed it since I last played.

the assassination wording has been brought up a few times.
and i agree, it should have been renamed to something else sicne there is no form of outright killing unless you have top tier everything at max level. and you got your damage sliders and chance of death adjusted up.

this skill even as is with just knocking people out is rather OP. you can sneak behind a entire group and slowly knock them all out and steal everything they got.
Teralitha Jan 9, 2019 @ 7:22am
Stealth is OP in this game for sure. It allows you to steal anything and get stupidly rich even with no skill. But then again, maybe its the alertness and perceptions of those not paying attention that is underpowered.

Maybe we need a cardboard box to stealth properly undetected?
rompier02 Jan 9, 2019 @ 9:55am
Hi. Agreed this skill should be renamed. It certainly does nothing except knocking out NPC from behind. The stealth is another skill that complement the previous skill. Yeah also cannot knockout every NPC with it.

At least you get a chance to KO someone in the shadows, and seriously what you can do on tis game from cutting off limbs,to starting an all blood bath makes the stealth feature boring IMHO :D We did it all just in one battle.

At least we can sneak into a city while standing in the darkness, wear gear that makes you like a rogue, and knockout someone from the back, and drag their body to hide where it won't be revealed.

Just pretend you backstabbed someone, this is a story. Use your imagination.

It has nothing to do with the alertness and the NPCS/AL being stupid, and not balanced. If you decide you want your character maxed in a skill than your abilities will be amazing, and you do deserve to be op.

You guys whine about something being OP, but did you know that is takes a bit of training to get that skill high ? It's a pain to train stealth to start, and you have to make a plan how you want to go about getting that skill to at least decent, and you get only two choices, and those are,are you going to walk your character town to town in stealth so you can raise it faster, or are you going to perform the action without thinking about it as you play along ?

Any skill on this game is a grind so why think it's all OP when you worked hard to get that skill maxed ? Crafting after 90 takes forever enough, and can you imagine how slow stealth is going to be to level once you get level 90 ?

We deserve to be OP because getting there is OP,but it's great this game isn't too easy.

The assassinate function probably isn't working correctly because you don't have a Lantern of Radiance.
