They can go in till they are pups, once they are grown up, owners don't like having random animals rummaging through their stuff. :P
to big and the game no longer lets them inside.
its not something that requires fixing as its working as intended.
To the OP. More detail in your questions please (following on from the lack of info in your prisoner thread).
You don't need to carry animals into confined spaces. Why would you? Trying a bit of mind reading here. If you are refering to selling items from a pack animal to a vendor, you need to get your human to initiate dialogue and then click on the pack animal to sell items. The pack animal can actually be a fair distance from the vendor and doesn't have to be close like your other party members need to be.
The same goes for transfering items in your base. You select your animals inventory (which is outside of the building), then left click on the storage container inside a building (but needs one of your characters inside too so you can get a visual of the container) and transfer goods.
Why is it "bad"? Why would you want pack animals following you into buildings etc?
The game mechanics are working as they should. If you were able to take animals into buildings, players would be whining, complaining it's not realistic having livestock following them into buildings.
bone dogs grow up to be big, and no longer able to enter.
there is enough pathing problems with just your normal characters, larger animals compound this issue when brought inside.
Although rare, there are other circumstances you might need to have an animal head inside that doesn't involve trade:
1. You need everyone in your squad to take shelter from an approaching hostile force you do not want to encounter. You might not be able to outrun a confrontation (low athletics, beak things, injuries, encumbrance), so the next best option is to lock yourself in and hide until the danger has passed. Also useful in circumstances where you're looting a lost library but don't want to have your garru/pack beast attracting wandering enemies by being out in the open (and they haven't been given stealth training).
2. You're in a city with your squad freshly injured from a battle, and you didn't pack sleeping bags to drop your animals on. Despite being rather silly (largely due to a lack of proper resting places for animals to begin with) you have the option of healing them by getting them to a bed in an allied structure or bar, and those aren't located outside of buildings in most cases. Ditto for those times when you have an outpost with beds inside but no sleeping bags.
3. You take pity on your animals being outside in the cold. :P
Whether or not they are frequent enough to warrant changing the default is another thing. On my part I just do the carry to get them in.
For this part thou, is not like they can jump on beds on their own, you gotta drop on'em yourself, so eh "in for a penny, in for a pound"?
Btw I'm now trying a solo with something like 8 dogs, the amount of "playing limbs" is insane, little buggers aggro 1/2 the map. :D
