Yeah they're pretty tough. Slowest guy in my "expeditionary" squad is in the high 80s; it's a fast group. Lol they still can't outrun beakers. Pretty much have to fight 'em, and that can get real messy real quick, even with a good group. One or two beakthings really isn't much of a problem ...but it's rarely just one or two. Falling Sun helps, if you have characters well-developed enough to effectively use it.

be careful when in their territory.
Gutters are no joke.
So far I have just been trying to keep my distance or if on the coast just swimming away since they seem to have a problem with moving in the water.

The only obnoxious thing about Beak Things is their stupid aoe attacks that can hit in a 360 radius around themselves, it looks dumb, it feels dumb, and it's not fun to see your dudes not even attempt to block it because they're not directly targetted.

But they're worthless if you have like 20 and up combat stats and only send 1 person to deal with 1 / 2 beak things at a time, I always end up putting everyone on hold and micro each of them to attack a different Beakie and then move whoever doesn't need to fight away, or on crossbow duty.

God, that one crater zone filled with them. It gives me nightmare remembering the first time I went inside that place.

Crossbows are your friend. I give crossbows to my medics to keep them out of harms way. Makes a difference when fighting things with beaks.

Really? My guy can outrun beakthings at athletics ~60 (with wodden sandals), he is not really faster then them but fast enough for them not be able to attack him. Are ther beakthings which are faster than the normal ones?

I just assumed he was wearing gear with a penalty to athletic.
bit old
but when high enough you can defiantly do some damage to them.
just need the right weapon.

1) Raise an attack and defence to 40-50-whatever
2) Buy some armor with high blunt def
3) Farm them like chickens
4)???
5)???
6)???
7) Profit!

One egg 4200 cats. One nest about 20 eggs. Profit :)
Just try to put one or two of your fighters against every beak thing + use shooters from the flangs

The only way you can outrun beak things is with two athletcs cyber legs. Which doesnt really help the rest of your party so either dont aggro them in the first place or leave one guy on block and taunt and go retrieve his body when theyve wandered off. If youre capable of fighting them send your guys in one at a time to avoid the AOE

I feel like Falling Sun is your friend here. +50% damage vs Beak Things on a weapon that already deals a good amount of damage.

If you need to run, make sure you aren't wearing any armor that has negative to athletics. After the terrible armor patch, all boots will slow you down at lower Grades, almost every chain and plate pants and armor will slow you down. Even some Leather low grade armor slows you down. If you need to run a lot, its probably best to carry sandals with you for the 1.10x Athletics bonus.

Edit: Just in case you don't know, you can hover over the Athletics tag that appears in the bottom left corner when you select someone that is running. It will tell you your MPH and Max MPH, and if you have any penalties.
