Food crafting is biased
-cooked vegetables, value 25
-foodcube, value 75
-gohan, value 75
-meatwrap, value 50
-dustwich, value 70
-bread, value 30

All need farming from "green" biome.

You got left with the following otherwise:

- rice bowl for swamp, value 25
- chewsticks for desert, value 20
- dried meat as allrounder, value 15

I do not even start to explain the crop yield / cost ratio bs bingo, it gets even worser.

Well I see point for green being better for food, but give at least some 30-40 food for the others. Some meat/cactus rice/meat combination.

But they don't. Wheatstraw can be farmed in arid as well. At best that leaves you with Cooked Vegetables, Foodcube, and Gohan requiring green.

Way I see it there is more of a bias towards arid. Especially considering arid is more common on the map.

The only food item asking for a fix is gohan IMO. It's really cheap, nutritious and available anywhere and everywhere, effectively moving all other foodstuff (besides meat) into "last resort" category.

I mostly use Ration Packs and Food Cubes, with Gohan being my Second Line food, followed by the others.

In general, I always carry Ration Packs, Cubes, Gohan, and Dried Meat for everyone. (I like to have a good diet for my troops.) The Homefront gets Bread and Rice while not preparing for a campaign, unless A they're preparing to go to the field, in which case I will feed them Gohan, or B, we have excess Gohan and I want to raise morale by giving them more food.

I mean its price:nutrition ratio rather than some roleplay features of a one meal or another. Dried meat and gohan share almost 20:1, while other food hangs around 10:1.

Ration packs are really good and all, but the process of making em is a real chore, and besides free space stops being an issue after buying a pack animal or two. Most of the time I just load up with fried veggies and roam the lands all-vegan style.

Well, the main reason why I don't use Gohan as primary is space. They're a 3x3 Grid, vs the 2x2 of the Ration Pack or the 2x3 of the Food Cube.

Given that I use Small Backpacks for each person which are stuffed with food and medical, it works out for me. They carry it in Main Inventory until needed, more of an Emergency Survival Bag if you will.

I only have 1 dog and 1 Bull for animals, and they are nearly never used for Patrols, or much of anything now that I think about it. The Bull is used when we go two or from a town and need the heavy lift capability, but otherwise, it pounds sand. In general, I don't have enough need to use it for anything unless I want to use it.

Oh dude, so much tedious micro to manage. Why not buy at least a thieves backpack? It has no penalties and avaliable at every other city. Or just carry around one trader's bag. You can fill this thing with TONS of food.

I use a Thief Bag X2 to carry my inventory, if I end up with that much, but carry the Small seperately so they won't consume the food inside without orders. The 2nd Thief Bag is stored inside the 1st one until needed.

They have other food they're intended to eat during known distance marches and for short skirmishes.

I started carrying the "Breadbags" after I nearly lost a few of my scouts to starvation and nearly lost one to lack of medical. The Small Bag is used because it has enough room to meet the needs and fits in the main inventory even if I have Thief, Large, or Wooden Backpacks in the inventory as well. It's a standard issue "Grab and go" item.

Hi, I thought food is food, other than the nutrition, size and cost ratios. What difference does it make to your people? Do they perform differently? They eat nasty tasting food. I see no different in perfomance or in recruiting. Haven't tried it, can you feed beggers without getting mobbed? Sometimes I think I would rather feed them than engage in battle as I often travel alone.

No, you cannot feed them. Fighting is your only choice.
