Share Food Dont Work Right

i dont know why but when i have a guy with him backpack full of food the other squads members dont eat

It has to be in their inventory. Stranger than it sounds the backpack isn't considered your inventory.

I think of it this way, if you have a backpack on you have to take it off to get something in reality right? Same goes for your inventory, I think of it like pockets.

It's supposed to work from the backpack. But personal food needs to be in your inventory.

Is everyone on the same squad? They need to be on the same squad and near each other to share food in the backpack. Check the option on the last tab on the map window to see if the option to share food is turned on.

I dont know Hat, my backpack people eat just fine out of their own backpack. but I got like 30 mods so maybe someone adjusted something.

For personal. Best put in inventory item you want them to eat first.
But yes they will eat out of backpack as well. Or should.

They don't, they just pick up the food in there backpack.

Everyone on the same squad will eat food from backpack. If you want specific person to eat only specific food, put it in their personal inventory instead.

This is useful if you don't want any of your pack animal to eat ration pack or anything special that you want to keep for your crew.

If you don't really care who eats what, just dump all food in backpack and they'll eat whatever they want.

I know what people have posted above is *supposed* to work...but it simply doesn't always. I've seen it work before, but recently loaded up my folks for a trek, and put all the food in one person's backpack. My rationale was that this particular character is a crossbow shooter, and could leave the BP on all the time without gimping combat stats (afaict Ranged isn't affected). All well and good...except the other squad members simply didn't eat from her backpack. Shrug.

Yes, all members of same squad.
Yes, Share Food is enabled in AI tab.
Yes, tried saving and reloading.

Finally just gave up on it and doled bits and pieces of food out to each individual member, which they immediately ate because most folks were down in the 220s for Hunger. It's a chore.

One thing I didn't try though. She uses the item-stack Wooden BP....perhaps it has to be a "regular" backpack?

Wooden BP works, at least for me. Do you have any mods that changed something involving backpacks perhaps? If not, maybe try importing?

Since i started modding the game it doesn't like to share food anymore, so I assume one of the mods I have broke the feature..

I don't mind too much though, I always run with a small squad until I build a city where i have a central food supply
