There is a link there for the blender template. What you work off of, and the io mesh kenshi zip (The importer/exporter for blender.)

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1287177013 There is also this handy guide on working in Blender, it should help you out a lot. However don't follow the instructions for weight painting. He has yet to update it and if you are making chest armor that portion of the guide will only cause you pain. I would suggest looking at the model in the blender template I linked you and try your best to paint your shirt like the model is painted in the areas that it would cover. It will take some trial and error, but if you stick with it you will get it. ^^
i have read that guide already, and i have the plugins, however they only import the main male/female & sword model, i need the game's long-sleeved shirt to make the modelling easier.

Yeah that is the base you work off of. All you have to do is go into the kenshi files and find the meshes you want and import them as a kenshi ogre mesh with that plugin

Also the arms a real pain. You just kind of have to suffer through it. Reeeeeally sucks that when the devs gave us that model that it exported wrong because it should be in a t pose, but sadly we are left with that abomination.

Wait, are you trying to mod the turtleneck/chainmail long sleeve shirt? If you are, you don't need Blender for that.

You will need to modify the existing mesh in Blender if you're trying to mod most of the armor in the game but if you wanted to mod a shirt, then they are not armor. They are considered as undershirt and if you want to modify that all you need to do is edit the .dds texture in Photoshop or any other image editor software that you're familiar with.

The undershirt has no mesh since it's masking the upper part of the skin on the male and female model. So, it basically using the same mesh as the male and female model.

If you wanted to view the shirt in Blender, I guess you can use it as texture for the male_body and female_body. My guide doesn't cover texturing in Blender since I'm not very good at that yet. You'll need to look for Blender texturing tutorial on Youtube for that if you don't know how.

I feel your pain man. I'm holding off from modifying a bunch of vanilla armor because of that. I was like, nope, forget it. I'll do something else instead. LOL

It would be cool if someone could mod the plated leather jacket into a gambeson. ;D

oh, they are the same?alright then, the thing is that the armor I am making goes on top of a shirt, a very lose one, but since its all the same, I guess its alright, I will just keep making it on top of the model.

what troubles me the most are the model's shoulder, it has a very long slope, not sure if anyone has a shoulder like that, and it's making the shoulder pads hard to do, but I will push through it.

as for texturing, yeah I suck at it too, it's very hard to do.

I will link you a good site if you want to get them, in every texture there is the normal_map done, the glossing etc...

here is the link:https://www.poliigon.com/

in case the link gets taken down I am talking about the polygon site, you probably heard something about it, that site ins't completely free, but it saves you a loot of trouble.

if you want something free there is this one:https://www.textures.com/ (textures.com)

I'm not sure what you mean by the same but if you look at all the shirts (I'm talking about cloth, leather and chain shirt that goes to Shirt slot) in the game, they're tight fit. That's because they're basically a mask that replaces that part of the body of the model.

If your armor is basically a shirt, then you can simply edit the .dds files. You can look at any of the .dds files in Kenshi\data\items\undershirt folder as reference.

But if your armor is suppose to be 3 dimensional object on top of the body like any other armor (armor that goes on the Body slot like Samurai Armour for example), then you'll have to create the mesh in Blender otherwise it wouldn't work.

It might be easier to make a suggestion on which route to take if you can share more on what kind of armor you're planning to create because if I'm not mistaken, shirt must be placed in undershirt folder and armor must be in armour folder otherwise it wouldn't work.

For example, I created a stealth bodysuit armor that is bodytight. I don't need to create mesh for it since it's basically a shirt only I extend it to include the legs in the .dds file.

I don't know what Steam has against Poliigon but it appears that the link was removed. LOL. BTW, I know of Poliigon because I watched Andrew Price's basic tutorial when I was learning how to use Blender. His tutorial is awesome. :D
I learned how to model through his tutorials as well, thank god he is around, he is great :D

what I am planning to do is an armor, the shirt I will mess around later depending on what we have in-game already.

here are my reference photos of the armor:

here is the movie scene that posses the warriors with it, if I need more reference pictures I will usually look at the clip slowly and try to find more details.

if you have any tips for making the shoulder pads toss them at me! and thank you for all your help so far, its very kind of you.

Mongolian lamellar armor? It'll look very flat if you only make it as shirt so you'll need to create the mesh in Blender if you want it to look right.

For the shoulder, I think you can probably import the mesh for Mercenary Plate (Kenshi\data\items\armour\meshes\MercenaryLeatherPlate_m.mesh) or the Hack Stopper Jacket (Kenshi\data\items\armour\meshes\Hack Stopper Jacket.mesh) for reference since both has somewhat similar shoulder pad as what you're going to make.

Good luck! :D
aye, I have imported the armor, all is fine and dandy now, gonna resume my armor work.

thanks both of you for the help!

Just a caution, if you want to edit the existing armor, the arm parts can be a pain to properly rig and weight because of how the model and the armor are posed with arms stuck to the body.

But if you know what you're doing, it's not gonna be a hassle. I don't really know what I'm doing so I stay away from editing existing body armor for the time being since I need to practice more.

If you're creating a new armor, it's not gonna be a problem since you can just pose the arms with t-pose and work from there.

Don't forget to share the results! :D
"If you're creating a new armor, it's not gonna be a problem since you can just pose the arms with t-pose and work from there."

did you meant to say *can't?

other than that the plan I have for the arms is to duplicate them and move them one section forward away from the main model, then I will do armor for them and move the armor a section back, which will then fit the armor on the main model's arms.

I am not sure how to get the model in a T-pose, I will look around later and then try to do it, if I find out how I will share here, I suppose it has to do with moving the skeleton and the arm subsequently.
