Removal of trees
I've got some pretty annoying trees growing out the middle of buildings, a lot have been
removed but one remains right in the midle of the town gate. I have tried this procedure
found in another thread but it seems to do nothing but as I don't use the editor for anything
it may be a obvious step that I am over looking or it may be outdated.

Backup your saves, or at least make a hard save.
Go to where you want to remove trees.
Open the in-game editor (ctrl-shift-f11? not sure, I changed mine, it's in the bottom section of the keybinds list)
Click "Navmesh Tools"
Click "Roads"
Click "Foliage Removal"
Drag on the terrain to draw circles: drag out one or more circles covering where you want the trees gone.
Quicksave (f5)
Quickload (f9)
Close in-game editor


Should this work or is there some other means of removing them that someone can advise
me of?

Can you post a screenshot of these offending trees? Is this your outpost, or did you settle in an NPC town?

I can sure next time I'm in game, in the mean time I'm building in the large salt flat area
near the waystation SW of cloudsteady, not so much trees as large cactus things but I'll
take a screen shot.

Location and main offending tree, plus a few more in walkways, this is after a save
and restart but not after an import.

And you're not using any mods that reduce or remove the no-foliage range around your outpost right? It's supposed to remove foliage like that automatically.

Yeah, when I build it removes foliage and even rock outcroppings and stuff. I built a house on top of a big rock thinking it might clip through the floor, but it just paved it over.

None that I know of, It did work on the other side of the base but these tree things
seem persistent around this area.

The gate was the first thing I put down come to think of it, maybe i'll try rebuilding it
and see if that helps but the towers seem close enough to work too if it was just the gate
being buggy.

I had trees and other stuff showing up again and blocking my gates, cause new buildings often change the center of no-foliage range... sucked pretty much , had to double the range with a mod

I thought foliage auto removed itself around your bases. The next time you restart the game or import it blights out all the foliage around your base.

I remember because it was kinda disapointing in some cases where I wanted to keep the trees for the looks.

When I run into an issue like this the first thing I do is save the game, exit and load the game with all mods off.

Had a couple of those white upsidedown mushroom things grow on one of my buildings stairs well after it was built. I'm going to try the OP's instructions to remove. I've never touched anything in the editor (Shift+F12 is my understanding) before as I don't want to break anything.

Most of the trees have been removed after a save and reload but these ones are stubborn
and have refused my repeated polite requests to vacate.

No need for far expamle - trees are in rebuildable buildings in HUB. I really hate it.

You may be having issues because of the size of your base. That looks a huge area, which means the walls may be outside the 'outpost area' where it does that for you.

This is possible, I'd like to be able to just right click remove/cut down tree without
messing about in editors and what not but sadly even the editor does not work unless I'm
missing a step from my OP, I haven't tried it in another area to confirm if it's just these trees
or I'm doing something wrong

Nah, its like some recent change messed with it. It used to defoliate everything within your "ownership circle."

I rebuilt the longhouse, the tree does not show on the first floor, but the top of the tree is still shown on the roof.
