Kenshi
Auto-pause on game start/load option
This is just a little thing, but I think it would be a nice quality of life feature to have the setting available to pause the game whenever it loads. I'm playing on an older PC, I'm probably not the only one, and loading the game can take a couple of minutes. Being able to select the save file, walk away and not to worry about the game running while I'm gone would be great.

And honestly I'm usually instantly pausing the game anyway, to get my bearings, remember what I was doing, that sort of thing, so I'd be using it anyway, like in most similar games that allow it.

I'm presuming it wouldn't be something complicated to implement either.

As far as I can tell the game will actually pause if it needs to when it's loading.

I'm really not sure what you mean by that. The game isn't even running yet while it's loading.
Install the game to an SSD and you should get better loard times.

game already does this

So how do you turn it on?

I misunderstood your post. I thought you were talking about the game pausing whilst chunks of terrain were loaded.

As for the game being paused rather than running after you boot it up, I dunno, dude. I just switch to a browser or something and I can still see the game loading screen so it doesn't bother me.

I second this suggestion. If you have ever tried the cannibal hunter start you will appreciate the game starting as paused. You only have like a split second to pause the game before getting eaten. And believe me, you have to pause first to get your bearings with that starting scenario! :)

In general I think it will be better to load a game and when ready unpause it, rather than the other way around where you have to actively wait for the load to finish and then manually pause the game.

1,000,000% agree with this.
It is one thing to have to stay aware while e.g. getting copper.
It is something else entirely to sit and stare at the load-screen(s) - super boring, mega annoying. Why not just make the loading screen a wall of paint, then?

An auto pause upon getting aggroed / attacked would be nice.. but not like tht will happen in this one... Maybe Kenshi 2..

Certainly wouldn't hurt to implement in many games.
Fire up the game, press contiune or load, go do something else while it does. After it finishes, it autopauses.
Think it already does it, if you pause, then load during an already running game.

It's annoys me too. I wish it auto paused upon finishing loading in on save load. I'm running on an nvme ssd and the load times are still annoying.

This topic is more than 1,5 years old. We will never get such a feature because the community voted that devs should work on Kenshi 2 instead.

load times are due to the games engine. no way to fix it unless they scraped the engine and redid the game. which is kind of what they are doing with Kenshi 2. easier to make a new game then try and fix the first one. converting a single threaded game to multithreaded is no easy task.
