Band of Bones Won't Leave
It's not even a raid. A passing group of Band of Bones guys happened by my outpost (at this point, a single shack). and keep knocking down my two people. Once they're downed, the BoB guys start "patrolling the town" (basically walking around this desert basin) until one of us stands up, and then it repeats.

I think it is meant that way. Newest version added raiders to invade your settlements.

Basically they own your shack until you are strong enough to kick them out.

well if you are always downed you won't be able to. but maybe you'll be able to escape
They took over your town. Its theirs now.
Now if to low level to defend your base you will pay the price if your not ready. move to a city and buy a building untill your strong enough to protect your base.

No, it's bugged. Non raider will "patrol" your town for a while then leave. It's annoying.

I can't. They just hang around and keep knocking down my people when they try to get up again. It's pretty cheap. (Yes, I know, bandits, Death World, life is unfair etc.) However, there was no infrastructure there, nothing to steal, just a small shack with a research bench in it. I can understand them occupying a base with food and weapons manufacturing capabilities, buit what i have is no better than the cave they were squatting in.

well last resort: import the save so they "leave".
with or without your shack.

This would be your only way out.

And they not after your resources. They after your town.

Though since i can't currently play the game. I can't tell you if them circling is normal or not.

Normally, I've never had a problem establishing in that spot. Normally, I buy a house in town, do all my research there, then head out to make a base with houses and walls and all that up to level 4 researched. However, I felt that was kinda cheap, and wanted to make the result feel more earned, that I eked out my own place, researched from the ground up on that spot.

However, I reloaded the save, and they didn't come. Rather, a war party of Dust Bandits came instead, demanding C2,000 every 2 days. My two guys made short work, and sent the raid leader crawling back to his boss, lighter one leg.
Leave your guys playing dead until the bandits are out of aggro range then run off. Heal up in town and come back with more guys or some Mercs.

Mercs are pretty affordable compared to hearing and starting guys early game, I always have them guarding my base. Only 1k/day for 4-7 strong fighters.

I had this happen to me, it was a huge group. In the end I got one of my guys to run to a nearby Waystation to hire some Mercs. I got some decent loot from that encounter!

I later used some Mercs set as bodyguards to go with me to their camp (just north of my base) and wipe them out. However, they respawn from time to time, which is a pain, so I've wiped it out a number of times now. Just need to maintain enough money to keep the Mercs patrolling my base - even the lowliest Hungry Bandits smash through my gate in seconds it seems...Mounted Crossbows is next on my research list!

Scoob.
You can also tick the stealth button and crawl to your teammates and heal them while faking playing dead. And then try and crawl away.

So THAT'S how that works!

omg you were playing without stealth?
no wonder it was hard
It was mentioned by one of the Dev's in the patchnotes or blog.
