He has an Attack and Defense both over 100, so even if you're in the 70's and wearing Masterwork Armor you're going to struggle against him.
I go with 22 characters with these attributes above.
No, absolutely not.
Oh dear lord... PLEASE do not even try to fight him right now. He will out and out kill your entire party without breaking a sweat.
Get stats into the 70's and 80's, with masterwork heavy armor, and then you might have a chance. Bugmaster is a killer.

but think about it.. it takes a lot of fun out of the game imo.. i now make my own "bugmaster" from all the races myself.. way more entertaining than getting a 90-100 stats char instantly..
I aborted my first ever run, I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of spiders that were on the way & kept getting my guys knocked out when crossing water as the damn spiders could attack me but I not them. (not sure if that was fixed in later patch)
The second time I planned better but nearly didn't make it out with a big squad of 50+ stat guys as I was killing spiders on the way, dropping sleeping bags & healing/killing pretty much constantly until I decided I had to do it there & then or be stuck in a loop. I had to bypass an absolute swarm of spiders congregating on one side of the hill under the Bugmaster ruin & was lucky they never came my way. Plus I made sure I got across water fast when I saw a clear chance. All in all it was a tough time but damn fun.
On a different playthrough I grabbed him with one guy, I ran in fast, laid a sleeping bag down just outside his ruin on a ledge that the spiders didn't pass (down his ramp, sharp left turn going round the back of his ruin). After killing a few spiders I healed up, ran in & killed the spiders in his ruin then ran back out & slept. Then ran in & knocked the Bugmaster out - I was lucky I hit him repeatedly on same part before he got off too much damage on me. Then I ran back to my sleeping bag & put him down while I healed again for the escape journey. If he got up he was easy to knock out again as I'd removed his weapon. Once I was fully healed I escaped with him on my shoulder. That was months ago & he's still sat in one of my prison cells as a trophy.
EDIT:- Found a screenshot of him in my profile...been in prison for 6 months nearly lol ;o)
