Prepare against the Bugmaster and his spiders.
Folks, can you give me some of your experience to confront Bugmaster and his spiders? Do you think I need to trade weapons for bonuses against animals?

* Status of my primary weapons: Nodachi> Cutting damage 1.89 / Blood Loss 1.20x; Ronin Greatsword> Cut Damage 1.73 / Blunt Damage 1.13 / Blood Loss 1.00x; Foreign Saber> Cut damage 1.89 / Blunt Damage 0.23 / Loss of Blood 1.00x; Eagle's Cross> Damage 76-127 / Range 188m.

* Status of my secondary weapons: Ronin Blade > Damage of cut 2.05 / Loss of Blood 1.10x and 20% damage against robots and humans.

* Armor Specialist Samurai.

Sorry for the big text!:steamhappy:

These are the stats for all the weapons I'm currently using. Damage; loss of blood it causes; bonuses and so on.

Desert sabres give a bonus against spiders, so they would be helpful. Your odds against the bugmaster himself depend on how many people you have and the melee attack and defence skill of your squad members. Knowing those would be helpful in telling if you stand a chance or not.

You probably don't.

He has an Attack and Defense both over 100, so even if you're in the 70's and wearing Masterwork Armor you're going to struggle against him.

The defense of my characters is between 30 and 40; Resistance between 40 and 50; Force between 50 and 55 (plus 2 or 3 characters that are above 5 to 10 points). I analyzed the desert sabres, very good indeed!
I go with 22 characters with these attributes above.

No, absolutely not.

Oh dear lord... PLEASE do not even try to fight him right now. He will out and out kill your entire party without breaking a sweat.

Get stats into the 70's and 80's, with masterwork heavy armor, and then you might have a chance. Bugmaster is a killer.

One more thing, I read something on the subject: Do you know if there is really a possibility of recruiting the Bugmaster?
nex Jun 12, 2018 @ 8:38pm
in my first run of this game i recruited him with this mod:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=726254871

but think about it.. it takes a lot of fun out of the game imo.. i now make my own "bugmaster" from all the races myself.. way more entertaining than getting a 90-100 stats char instantly..

Really cool idea and mod! The author says there are certain conditions to be met or items to be kept for exclusive recruits, do you know how I look at these requirements? In the dialogue with the NPC does he say something about it? Thank you for the information!

you can read in the steam workshop forum page for the mod there are people asking questions and you can ask the mod author directly..

Best way to do it when you get strong enough is run in fast. Do not stop to kill any spiders on the way if you can help it as they will continuously wear your squad down until you are in serious trouble. How you cope with any swarms of spiders pretty much gives you a clue as to your capabiity of grabbing the Bugmaster without loss, even then he could get a few hits on some squad members & kill them.

I aborted my first ever run, I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of spiders that were on the way & kept getting my guys knocked out when crossing water as the damn spiders could attack me but I not them. (not sure if that was fixed in later patch)

The second time I planned better but nearly didn't make it out with a big squad of 50+ stat guys as I was killing spiders on the way, dropping sleeping bags & healing/killing pretty much constantly until I decided I had to do it there & then or be stuck in a loop. I had to bypass an absolute swarm of spiders congregating on one side of the hill under the Bugmaster ruin & was lucky they never came my way. Plus I made sure I got across water fast when I saw a clear chance. All in all it was a tough time but damn fun.

On a different playthrough I grabbed him with one guy, I ran in fast, laid a sleeping bag down just outside his ruin on a ledge that the spiders didn't pass (down his ramp, sharp left turn going round the back of his ruin). After killing a few spiders I healed up, ran in & killed the spiders in his ruin then ran back out & slept. Then ran in & knocked the Bugmaster out - I was lucky I hit him repeatedly on same part before he got off too much damage on me. Then I ran back to my sleeping bag & put him down while I healed again for the escape journey. If he got up he was easy to knock out again as I'd removed his weapon. Once I was fully healed I escaped with him on my shoulder. That was months ago & he's still sat in one of my prison cells as a trophy.

EDIT:- Found a screenshot of him in my profile...been in prison for 6 months nearly lol ;o)
