Kenshi
Negative de-buff removal [SOLVED]
(I posted this in the modding section, but received no responses. I'm hopeful that I may get better results here. If this is some kind of taboo, please let me know before moving it to some obscure place if removed, let me know why.) Thanks

I'm fairly confident in my ability to mod some, if not most, of the aspects of Kenshi but, I'm running into trouble trying to figure out what constitutes, or contributes to the de-buffs on most things. There are a few obvious ones, but something adds a lot more de-buffs to things like armor than shows.

I would love it if you could point me in the right direction. If you happen to know where/what it is that is causing this.

I would like to find or create a mod that does or enables the removal of most, if not all, item de-buffs, as I feel that working my way up to being able to afford, steal, or build particular armors or weapons, etc... only to be confronted with so many de-buffs as to make it worthless(although totally realistic), very disappointing.

For example:Stealing, purchasing, or building a suit of armor that can withstand more hits and such, but basically turns you into a stump, is hardly worth the effort or price, to me. *Leviathan hunting not withstanding.

I've worked at this for a couple of days, but again, the obvious changes available in the FCS do not appear to be the only things taken into consideration. Another example: I've removed all negative de-buffs on a particular suit of armor, but when in-game(after import, or new game), they still have a whole list of negative attributes, again, rendering them hardly worth the bother of using.

While there are many valid reasons for NOT doing this. I would love the opportunity to at least try it and see.

Thanks so much for any helpful responses.

EDIT:Reduced Armor Penalties Mod.
This is what I was trying to do. Thanks again, for all the help, everyone.

Really? Nobody has any idea how this works?
Sorry for the "bump" but I really would like to get to the bottom of this, if possible.
Thanks again, for helpful responses.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I remember reading from one of the notables here that "debuffs and status effects are not possible" when separated from armor or items.

IOW - You can't be "poisoned" in Kenshi. There's no exposed mechanic for it.

However, there is "Hunger" and that is a dynamic status effect. So, it's possible to do those, but it's not exposed to modders so they can access those mechanics. There's also combat effects from certain damage, but those aren't exposed either and could be, mechanically, a bit different.

Thanks much, Shidan!
So, a hypothetical scenario could be, to produce a less than ideal armor, but with less de-buffs?
Perhaps even, to make the armor so under strength that it wouldn't really count as armor?
For example: If I were to make the armor lighter?

If this could be applied to all NPC's and the NPC, animals, etc...modifiers were adjusted accordingly...say using a, "Global Settings" mod..then I guess I could in theory, juggle the figures until I got something that would or could, be beneficial to the player/NPC without encumbering them to such a massive extent. *Perhaps removal of Armor all-together could even be an option.

This would be a nice feature to be able to mod more easily.

I've managed to achieve my desired result with weapons, by adjusting their weight, and other characteristics that seem to effect them, etc... So, if this is roughly the same, I may be able to come up with something that at least gets close to what I'm trying to do.

I was just wanted to make sure that this was necessary before doing it the hard way. :)

This is good to know.
I was actually trying to remove de-buffs, but its good to know that should I want to ADD them, I will have to keep your information in mind.

if you just want to make armor perfect, you can just buff the modifiers of heavy armor, till it has 1x modifiers for you chosen quality (e.g. i sometimes use a heavy metal armor with everything on 1x if masterwork): its sth like 1.06x athletics, 1,01x combat speed and 3,44x stealth for every piece (exept head i think). alternatively you can buff some light armor with enough blunt and pierce defence till its equal to heavy armor (that should have less item weight) - also dont forget to remove cut to stun etc.. :evilhero:
