x3 is okish for big squads, small squads would be smashed early game even by starving bandits.
i play x3 but with enemy squad multiplier 0.8
didn't tried x2 slots, i don't like to import much.
I haven't tried any attack slot mods. Maybe I should?
But, I like Kenshi's sort of "Formal Combat" feel. I like seeing characters square-off against their enemy.
The one issue I can see is that for those with a larger number of characters in combat it may not be so great, since their overwhelming numbers will not help to prevent individuals from being beaten to a pulp by a powerful enemy. And, of course, being overwhelmed becomes somewhat problematic, certainly increasing the attack strength of large groups of weak enemies.
Practically speaking, logically speaking, it's extremely difficult for one person to be under melee attack by more than three opponents simultaneously without grappling/rushing, which Kenshi doesn't have. There comes a limit of practical space considerations and attackers interfering with each other or even accidentally causing injury to an ally. (Kenshi appears to try to obey weapon reach rules in some practical sense, up to a point.)
Crossbows are also "wtf-overpowered" with a single-attack slot system, but NPCs have the option to have crossbow users in their groups, too, so it kind of balances out.
That why battle is fought using strategy and tactics.
Even the OP Spartan, which i imagine having OP stat, need to fight the persian in a narrow area to make the numerical number useless.
Crossbows would balance out if the AI could kite you indefinitely too lol.
I personally think in Kenshi 2, crossbows need to have a reload speed and accuracy penalty for a few seconds after running.
"Snapshot" skill, perhaps? "NoScopLol" skill... :)
I agree with a penalty to accuracy after running/stopping. I'd also like to see a greater delay in weapon swaps for crossbow users armed with some of the larger crossbows, which are pretty darn big. (Arbalests?)
Kiting should still be viable, since you still have to achieve a number of things like Athletic skill, suitable armor/gear, Crossbow Skill, etc.. But, it should maybe have some downsides if you, "The Player at the Controls," screw it up. :) A Kiter should never feel safe and should always be afraid of getting their kiting interrupted/broken by player-error or environmental hazard (additional enemy/getting stuck on terrain, etc).
x3 make it so you can actually be overwhelm and not be able to fight back but still be able to handle yourself.
x5 is like no matter how skilled you are you will eventually be overwhelmed by their relentless attack even with superior skill.
