why does it say no building materials
when i try to build some things my guys just say they dont have any building materials. even though they have plenty in both their back pack and normal inventory. it will place the frame but then nothing. Help!! i really want some training dummies.

that means you have the wrong type of materials
left click on the item you are building and it will tell you what's needed.

im trying to build a training dummy atm, it says one building material needed. i assume this means the standard crate looking one called building material? or am i looking at something else? thanks for the reply

Assigning Engineering as a permanent "Job" instead of a temporary one will help them sort out their Materials. So, Shift Right-Click on the item to be constructed and this will assign them to "Engineering" which will then prompt them to start their regular Job behaviors, like getting materials, ditching extra (sometimes) in their inventory, etc..

Whenever you first use a character to in assigning something to be built and that character does not have Engineering on their Jobs list, they will say "I don't have any Materials." That seems to be the only default response when a problem is encountered in an Engineering task.

It is becoming more the case that someone has updated their mod for the FORTH time in a week and your game has quit working as intended.
In the last month, EVERY time my game starts to give me the "I don't have the materials" bug, I save and quit, and sure as heck, one of my mods has been updated, and STEAM has been kind enough to totally ignore my "DO NOT DOWNLOAD WHILE I'M IN GAME!" settings and sent Kenshi completely off the rails. :(

It has happened FOUR times today! Grrrrr!

don't use mods then
