why do the slaves i rescue keep going back to the holy mines?

legitimate question, i keep rescuing holy nation slaves only for them to literally run back to their capturers, why?

Each character in Kenshi has a random personality assigned to them. A couple of these personality types result in a character being more willing to stay a slave even if their shackles and cage are unlocked.

The fearful personality and... I can't remember what the second one is offhand, sorry.

In this case it's more of an AI issue than anything. They try to run "home" after being freed, but still see the slave camp as home so they go back.

Don't make the mistake of following them, I think I literally followed one slave for 2 days in game... he ended up running towards Sonorous Dark.
