Trying to Use Editor...
Howdy folks.

I recently got a hold of some Masterwork robotic limbs that I wish to install on my martial arts character but since I have my natural organic limbs, it won't let me. And given there is no in-game back alley doctor that can install new limbs whilst getting rid of the old one (and yet we have plastic surgeons, strange) I resolved to use the in-game editor to remove my character's arms and then put the new arms in place.

Except I have no idea how to do it.

I know that using Shift + F12 will open the editor but after that, I don't know what to do, as everything appears to only be for usage with the outside terrain and what have you. Could anyone tell me what I gotta do here?

Thanks in advance.

That is the incorrect editor. That one is made for editing the world data. The one you want is the FCS, which is the game editor option that pops up when launching the game.

If you need any guidance on the editing process once you have it open, I have a guide on save editing here. It's not complete, but it does have the section on removing limbs done.

Thanks for the response. So this FCS, is that the small launcher window that shows up where I can choose options like Fullscreen/Borderless or is it something different, because I don't quite understand what the FCS is/looks like.

Thank you again for your assistance.

When you try to launch the game via Steam, you'll be given this option immediately. It's the game editor option, instead of Play Kenshi.

Alternatively, you can go down into the game's folder and open the "forgotten construction set.exe" file.

One final question. I got into the necessary area and have been fiddling around with limb stats, but my arms don't seem to want to pop on off. Is there a particular value I need to set it to to have them automatically pop off come next reload, or do I have to engage in a fight in their horribly mangled state afterwards and wait for them to get hit and pop off that way?

In the game settings in-game you need to set the limb loss to frequent, otherwise it requires combat. You can switch it back after if you want.

Gotcha.

And done. Sporting lovely new chrome thanks in large part to the Skeletons of Black Desert City. Just hope they don't check the safe I knicked these masterwork beauties from though, heh. Now if I can just find a Masterwork Thief Left Arm, I can be able to swap the arms out inter-changeably when the situation arises, as my martial arts character is also my resident klepto.

It is strange, though, that for a game world as screwed up as Kenshi, there is no in-game method of safely removing limbs and replacing them with robotic ones. I.E. going to a "licensed" surgeon and having them surgically removed. I realize this ain't Shadowrun and Cyberdocs aren't a thing but one would think in a world like Kenshi there would be in-game people who are like, "My flesh is weak, I want to replace it with something stronger!" and someone nearby going, "DONE."

Thanks though for all the help. I'm eager to give these babies a good test run against some poor hungry bandits soon.

There are only right-handed Thief's Arms, which makes them synergize well with the exclusively left-handed Steady Arm.

Oh, thanks Bunny. I think there were some Steady Arms in there that I can procure then.

or if you have a good group with good stealth /lockpicking skills you could place the character on a Fogman prisoner Pole ,they eat the legs then the arms first so its a bit risky for timing the rescue

Got my new arms situated, but thanks for the suggestion. Now I'm more or less out and about gaining blueprints and breaking and entering and grabbing the good stuff. Then, I return home, get my guys outfitted properly... and we're gonna go bounty hunting.

Or, just go south to get the Peeler blueprint, or use the Peeler mod to give yourself access to the Peeler more quickly.
