100 armor smithing - is it possible?
I'm using a 100x xp mod as I'm tired of having to sell off so much specialist gear to get my guys outfitted with masterwork gear, so I was aiming to get a 100 armor smith to guarantee masterworks. However my greenlander dude is sitting at 99.62 and has been for 2 days now. I also have a scorchlander I just picked up, she's at 96 and still progressing at an adequate rate. So yeah, is it possible to hit 100 armor smith?

Well, i'm using a x5 exp mod and my weaponsmiths/armorsmiths are at around 98,50% a few weeks now. It must be possible but EXTREMELY slow, but now that you said that you are using x100 xp and it hasn't moved the xp bar for 2 days straight, i might believe otherwise. I don't think this game was meant for you to reach 100 on your crafting stats, however keep them crafting. Give it a week or two and if the xp bar is still stuck, then it should be impossible or close to it.

You really, REALLY, don't want to though. Once you actually hit 100 the process of quality levels starts getting reversed. The gear you make gets worse and worse, eventually locking you to prototype quality.

So the fact that it locks at just below 100 is a good thing. Because it stops you from ever experiencing that issue. :)

No it should not be possible , the formula in vanilla is as such that 99 should be the final level of the skill.
I had a character with 500 smithing and he didn't look good, because of the bulking effect.

Well a couple more days and the greenlander gained another 1% of a level. So probably possible but slow af.

The length some people would go for max stats.

i had a character that had 400 or so AS and it would consistently make masterworks but it was a muscle monstrosity. A small price to pay.

This info conflicts with what spack jarrow and Hatsune had said so I'm confused

Its simple, just make a new save and edit the stats and test it or if you give me enough time i'll make a vid but only if you r lazier than I am.
I'll take your word for it. Im pretty lazy

Best guess if it was making quality items at that level it was because it reverses again at some point. Quality gets higher and higher until it hits the max, then reverses and gets lower until the minimum, where it reverses again. In theory the cycle would continue infinitely until you hit the absolute maximum level, where the game would crash.

That situation happens when you divide a number and take only the rest. Xmod100 or some semanthic like that would be the case. So when the guy gets to 400 is like getting to 100 again. But that's too much of a guess so I don't know if it is the case.

So are there is cap to stop that issues? Or once it's hit 99 then that can't work on armor smith? is that same for weapon? it's would be not good for not to use armor smith and weapon smith again after hit 99
Shidan Sep 23, 2019 @ 1:17am
Yes, in normal gameplay there are caps in place to prevent going that high. So anyone playing without mods/save editing will not encounter the issues mentioned.

is this one of the cases where the exp. curve inverts after the cap? so if you hacked somehow got 200 armour smithing it'd level down over time?
Shidan Sep 23, 2019 @ 9:13am
Yep, that's how it appears to work. So once you reach the cap you'll bounce back and forth between tiny increments of a level where the formula inverts at.
