How do I unlock normal beds for houses?

Just started playing and bought a house in a city, but there's no option to build normal beds.

I can only build camp beds inside the house, and looking at the research tree I don't see an option to research normal beds.

Help?

It's a tech level 2 research. I'm assuming that's probably your problem.

So basically I have to research the small house first and then tech level 2? I got confused because guides online told me to buy a house and build a bed but I didn't see the option for one.

You can just build a camp bed. It's under the Camping tab in the build menu and it's a lot cheaper. Regular beds look a bit nicer, but the functionality is the same.
