NPCs too high stats ?
hi,

i think that some NPC have too high stats, each time im on cannibals plains, i see at least few tech hunters with each stat exactly 75. such situation appears quite often. i think 75 stat and skill level should be for elite units.

i.e. flotsam ninjas highest skill is 5x and mostly it is an attack (str aroudn 25, dex around 30-40), while rest stats and skills are around 20-30. and i think that is really nice. cuz that means they are specialized.

so guards for bigest cities and common soldiers should be laround 40 for each stat (shoudl be randomized between 35 and 45), elite soldiers 60-75 and around 95 for the best units in game.

and 5 last skills should be as a reward for player for their patient in training as it is not easy thing to reach 100 in any stat and skill.

thats of ccourse how i see that, and its compared to real life, where brightest units are higher in hierarchy while common stays as cannon fodder ;)

what do you think?

regards.

But... this is already pretty much how it is. The actual numbers are only a little different than your examples. Let's look at the Holy Nation as an example.

Holy Servant: 12-18
Holy Sentinel: 32-38
Paladin: 47-53
High Paladin: 57-63
Inquisitor: 67-73
Holy Lord Phoenix: 82-88

I also think you're mistaking something else for a Tech Hunter. Tech Hunters have extremely random stats (anywhere from 28-68). Skeleton drifters have pure 75 across all combat stats, are you sure that is not who you're seeing instead?

true that they are skeletons, but under Tech Hunter sign. maybe that was my mistake as i was playing very late yesterday, but i will try to confirm it today.

also it looks ok with you example with holy nations, but what with other fractions? im pretty sure that mongrel guards are all around 50-60 same for worlds end

I'm glad that the NPC's have high stats, otherwise it would be too easy for you to conquer towns. It's a harsh world out there, and the challenge is what makes the game so much fun. You shouldn't always be able to win every encounter, especially early game. Later on, when your group is seasoned, you've got a better chance at survival.

In the Alpha, everyone's stats were in the 30's area. The game was far too easy then. Most used Hatsune's mod to make enemies stronger.

Just give it some time, you'll likely appreciate the high stat enemies. If not, you can always edit you character's stats in the Forgotten Construction Set.

Will be good that NPC level up as well by the way

Do the NPC's level up over time, has that been confirmed? Because it would be cool to see some wandering ninja weeks later whose gotten a lot better at fighting. Perhaps eventually some NPC's could max out their stats if they survive long enough. That would be sweet.

Yes, npcs will level up over time, however if they unload they are pretty much lost forever as far as I know (tested with prisoners, at one point I had a swamp ninja with 50 atk / def).

To not lose any of your prisoners / npcs save with them loaded in (just swap the camera to their general vicinity then save). Unfortunately this means you cannot have npcs in multiple locations saved (for instance if you're carrying somebody far away and have prisoners back home you cannot save them all until they're all in the same loading "Chunk".

I should also mention that every time the game updates you will lose them all anyway since you have to import.

Right on, but when I talk about these things I usually mean on release. Importing is a new update must for sure!
