Engineering and Ancient Research.
My issue with Engineering is that I could never find one even in the past versions of the game. Friend of mine said post-ancient workshops but I don't know where that is. And Ancient Research became harder to find since I can't find them being sold in world's end anymore. Only managed to find a couple in the Ancient Lab in the wetlands but it isn't a lot.

Seriously need help. Drives me crazy that I can't find research stuff that i've been looking for. Especially the engineering. Never found em.

Any ruins can have them, The Grid is a good place to search, also there's a world map showing all of the locations, if that helps, click to zoom in

Thanks I know where the post ancient workshop is now.

There's two Post Ancient Workshops in The Grid, though only one gets marked on the map - the other is a little to the west of it. They should cover most of your important Engineering Research needs
As for Ancient Science Books, Most Lost Libraries have between 1 and 3, and most Ancient Labs have 4 to 8.

As for World's End, The University usually has some AI cores and Ancient Books inside that you can steal relatively easily with a decent thief

I stolen 3 AI Cores from the university. No books have been found though. The construction shops used to sell them but I think the devs got rid of that option in a update.

University seems to have random loot - sometimes I've come out with a measly one core and a book, other times it's been three cores and a number of books.

You can buy engineering item at World's End in vanilla, but it is a rare occurence.

It's actually a once per import occurrence. They spawn in the shops there using the artifacts system the first time the area is loaded, but it won't restock them so they don't come back till you import.

They also despawn if the shop restocks before you buy them.

That just seems wrong, what if I went to a location and didn't know that I'm supposed to immediately run to the shop and buy that specific item or didn't have enough money for it?

Instead could the item be somewhere within the shop or other location which doesn't get reset? For example when I was starting out I stole the Stone Golem's sword so that I could sell it, 40 days later the Stone Golem still doesn't have a sword.

I agree, it's not a good system. But it is the one we've got.

Imo they should either simply be stocked in small numbers, but be able to respawn. Or at the very least NEVER despawn.

Shidan, any idea whether any additional research is coming on full release?
I have a research bench full of Ancient, Engineering & AI cores. I'll hold on to them all for now but really itching to sell them lol ;o)

I wouldn't be surprised by a couple here and there, but we've probably got most of everything we'll get already.

Keeping my fingers crossed for AI turrets though. Would be invaluable on my solo character for defending the base. XD

In this current build I haven't seen ancient research or toppers at all in the shops recently of World's End. Engineering already drove me crazy (Till someone gave me a map thank you very much) Now I gotta raid places with ancient research and I do remember that ancient research later on was used a lot in previous builds. This time not so much, but I still worry about the limited resources of current playthroughs that may require imports to continue.
