Kenshi

At what rate is development advancing lately?
I've looked into this game from time to time. It seems like a few years ago nothing much was happening--patches were minor. I figured it was going into EA hell and would never be finished.

Have things changed lately? I'm not seeing the same complaints as before. Has development been more consistent or productive? When do you see the game being ready for an official release?

Game development is going on from what I can is there planned schedule. Lots of bugs have been dealt with that were seen in the past as well as the Devs actively taking note of any bugs that are appearing now. I recommend taking a look at their formal page as it has an accurate layout of their plan.
Kenshi is in its final development faze
last section of the map is coming and the rest of the diplomacy and whatever extra of the luxery featuers the Dev can find time to fit into the game.
there is about 2 to 5 months left of development before final release.
expected release date
Q1 of 2018

Thanks, both of you. It's wishlisted and I'll probably pull the trigger soon when sufficiently inebriated.

Just puller the trigger you (insert expletive)!

If you had your eye on the game this long then you are probably going to regret not grabbing it sooner. I had my eye on the game for like the first year it was in early access, I regretted not grabbing it sooner.

Slowly but surely, which is a great way of doing things!
Buy it, I have almost 1000hrs (I'm a noob!) and the map is not even complete, you won't regret.
there is still the Demo[www.lofigames.com] you can get.

I bought the game just over a year ago and the game has progressed immensely just in that time. Optimizations, new map sections, new gameplay systems, new content. It's a fantastic improvement.

Okay, since people want to talk about how far the game has come....

As you can see the developers changed the UI a few times, the top 3 are from alpha and the bottom ones are beta.

The base built in alpha had serious lag attached, the game literally hung forever whenever you demolished something. Now I can built something liek my stress test city (60 followers) without much lag because the developers have done a great job at optimizing the game.

If you had your eye on this game for a while then it should be worht buying. Simply because you will get your play time out of easily.

Easily indeed. I've got 400 hours in the game, spread out across five characters, and I still haven't even visited all places in the game. There's only a handful of games on my Steam account that I have 100+ hours on, and even fewer that I have more than 200 hours on. Kenshi is one of them.

When i first discovered this game, it was LITERALLY my only form of ANY kind of electronic entertainment until i had logged over 400 hours, the only other game thats come close to that level of addiction for me was Mount&Blade Warband/vikings after seeing them mentioned in the kenshi forums so many times. I don't think i even checked facebook or reddit during that time O.o

I feel like this is the longest stretch without an experimental update since i discovered the game a couple years ago, so im pretty excited at what the next one will contain for such a wait (6 weeks?)

I think a lot of other people can agree with this next point...

Kenshi is one of the VERY few games I feel like I underpaid for it.

I even tried convincing the developers they should have charged a bit more for the game. Simply because I have spent WAY more on other games and played them WAY less.

Funny, I was just playing Warband: Viking Conquest. I've played M&B since 2004 (alpha I think?).

Fine, fine... I'm buying Kenshi now. Thanks for the opinions!

I take back my thanks. What have you people done to me?

I found M&B in its alpha infancy as well... both of these are fantastic examples of games that were well worth supporting in early access. Can't wait for the next update to drop, which will (presumably) include the final quarter of the map.

Anyway, glad you chose to take the dive... just remember to come up for air every once in awhile over the next few weeks!
