toughness over 100
i know the soft cap is 100 and you are not supposed to go beyond that but i'm now "stuck" at 99.82 and while i have been able to get STR beyond the 100 mark by carrying a recruit and overencumbering my character to over 95% i seem to be stuck with toughness..

i have read about (and experienced) a bug where if you are beyond 89 in a stat it will bug out and no longer count upward when trained.. (for example get enslaved at slave farm eventually farming will no longer train at 93 / 95 etc [different in every save])

i've spent hours hunting leviathans and sold about 70 pearls (all from kills from my main char) and then slaughtered hundreds of skin spiders at the bugmasters to no avail..

is there are "legit" way of doing this? i know the stone golem has 102 toughness but to reach such values is there another way than simply cheating and editing the files in FCS?

edit: i also maxed out the pop sliders in the general tab and now the map is madmax on crack with hundreds of enemies fighting onscreen but still while DEX & melee attack / defense (and the corresponding weapon skill) or MA / dodge will train toughness stays the same..

It's not a "soft" cap at all. At some point near 100, the skill will no longer earn xp. Some skills are higher than 100, others are lower. All depends on how the math works out behind the scenes.

But this is almost certainly what you hit. You won't get much over 100 fairly, and not all skills will even make it there. NPCs are not subject to this limit when they spawn, so in some cases they can end up with skills higher than a player can achieve.

interesting.. after i had reached 90/70/90 in my first game i cheated the skill values to 101/101/101 just for some fun and beyond 100.0 it just starts leveling again.. so i always figured that it was a soft cap.. thanks for clearing that up.

Is there any way around that? That sounds really annoying. Like a custom character or something? If I put in the effort to be a kungfu God, I want to bloody well be a kungfu ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

No real way around it besides editing the stats manually or increasing the xp rate for everything.

But you wouldn't want to in the first place. Skills can get buggy over 100. Easy example is with the smithing skills, the further past you go the lower your crafting quality gets. Stealth used to completely break over 100 as well.

Point is, you're much better off sticking to the normal limits. Any higher will just cause problems.

i have since grinded away and have noticed that while it doesn't stop gaining xp it slows to a crawl.. i now have 99.85 and i won't cheat to raise it so i guess i'll just stay at 99..

at any rate thanks @Shidan for the quick answers..

... Not to forget to mention that the skill levels also effect your characters physical appearance. I built a character with 500 stats in each (Not to play with, just to use to hunt for locations to mod villages etc. I didn't want it constantly getting KO'd or sold off to slavery while trying to work on things) It can one hit kill, but it's body is alien in form thanks to the stats being too high.

@Stryderunknown
concerning the insane bulk i have made a custom race where i have also set the editor limits so i can reduce the leg/arm bulk beyond what is vanilla and i have made it so they always have the skinny setting and the females with 90+ STR don't have she-hulk muscles..
