Setting up base in an ancient lab

Was thinking of doing this to the one in the crater, just have to remove the security spider but before I bother hauling stuff there, will that spider respawn? and do the chests respawn?

you can't build in it. it has a no build radius around it. all ruins do.

If it had beds it would be a perfect nomads base.

based on the size of the bulky concrete base this is all but a nomads building!
You need a Yourt ^^

But you know what I mean, a non-permanent residence to store essential travelling supplies.

The yourt, a small "house" made of one piece in the "camping" construction menu.
You could only store it on a bull (all it's inventory). and you would recover the yourt after deconstruction.
A yourt would contain 4 beds, a cocking stove, and a small general storage chest.

lack of stone makes The Crater a bad place for a base... still, didnt stop me from building smack dab in da middle! (closest decent stone mining is SE on the riverbank near Clownsteady)
