Reason to walk or jog?
Does choosing the different slower speeds have an effect on my stats?

You reduce the chance to be detected when you are stealthed.
If you character is hidden you want to walk, change to "run" if you have to escape. ;)

Also, stamina may be implemented later in the game. This would be to keep people from fighting and sprinting all day and night.

I used to, but with how big the world is, I don't want stamina anymore.

Sleep, sure, even thirst, since we have hunger. (So long as it's well implemented) But Stamina..... No. It's too big and already takes long enough to get around. Forced walking is just a bit much unless they add mounts we can ride fast.

I'd even pay for mounts to be implemented, but unless it is, I don't want to see Stamina.

They could have sliders for people to adjust similar to hunger.

we know Thirst won't be in, that was removed.
Same with Stamina.
both were dropped due to the dev not wanting to add too much micromanaging on the food system. and on stamina.. i don't remember why he dropped it, think that was mostly something he wanted but had to drop features to keep with in his budget on completing the game.

That's unfortunate. I was actually hoping for something simple such as constantly running will increase the rate of the hunger bar going down.

As much as I would have liked a water and thirst need (planning for oasis stop in the desert, water bandit and stuff would have been cool), I would hate to have stamina.
Going slowly is not making the game harder, only more tedious. Even though i'll admit watching my characters being slow as f*** can be challenging for my nerves :D

I always thought this option was for sneak and "RP" people. Similar to MMO having the option to walk for Rp reason, but no game mechanic use it.

No, there's no point to it except for roleplaying. I'v set all my base settelers to walking to have it look a bit more normal instead of 20+ constantly running all over the place. So it looks nice, but outside of the base there is no point and just a waste of time to walk or jog.

maybe some of these can be modded into the game? i do wonder what that survival skill will be.

No idea how complex mods can get but from what we have now they seem limited hoping people are just waiting for the game to be complete to do more advanced mods if its possible or the dev making it possible.

The only time I typically use the Walk/Jog settings is for my main Char that all the others follow--the followers are on Run and She is on Jog so that they always stay cohesive with different athletics/encumbrance. Beyond that, if a squad member is injured in the legs or needs to be carried the whole squad goes on walk to keep them together. The first thing my Main and two Recruits learned to do was run really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast, so having lvl 90 Athletics mixed with newer lvl 30's means we can't sprint every where.

I just tell my whole squad to follow the slowest person...

I guess for RP purposes you might want everyone following your leader.

For people like me who make Kenshi videos, the walk/run, jog, no hud options really help. So they might not be particularly useful in your scenario but they don't hurt anything being there and some of us actually use them.

You know that there is a 4th speed that makes everyone you selected walk at the speed of the slowest? It's the one with a second red character in the image.
