though you can have up to 3 research benches to have the max output of science. anything after that and the gain from research speed is severely diminished.

Can be bought from Trade Goods Traders or Holy Farm Leaders at various locations in the holy nation

Keep your basic bench, as it uses no power.

As long as you have a Bench II (and on) upgraded, you can do the actual research from any level bench.

This is obviously an exploit that should be fixed...

I just started a new game and spawned in a Holy Nation farm SE of Worlds End, it has 5 cactus farms which I've been working on to build up my caps while building up my strength lol ;o)
