There is a third heavy weapon, though much rarer...

The only difference between the two is cutting and blunt damage. Plank has slightly higher cutting dmg than Fragmented Axe but less blunt dmg. Both weapons blunt dmg is higher than their cutting countpart. And from what I read in stats is Strength helps with Blunt and Dex helps with Cutting.

If I member right the fragment axe is a much heavier weapon and at only 55 str you may have difficulty useing fragment efficently

Fragment Axe also has slightly higher range. But the extra blunt damage will slow it down significantly compared to a same level Plank.

I prefer the third one personally. Highest base damage of any weapon type out there, and is lighter than either of the other two heavy weapons. A lower range, comparable to the Nodachi, but good enough to get some decent multi-hits.

I view fragment axes as higher tier than planks, I'm almost sure they did a quarter more overall damage

I feel like they do indeed hit harder, they are just heavy, much heavier and without appropriate str to wield it you will block slower and swing to slow and take a lot of hits n between swinging it.

Can 1 hit with it also sometimes

Heavy Weapons
> Slower rate of attack, does not impact hit or block success, but does impact how many actions you get in a certain amount of time. Pair with the best armor you can that does not provide a penalty to Combat Speed, and even still realize they will take more hits if in the middle of a crowd of enemies.

> Attack speed is strength based instead of Dex based, Strength will go up slightly from fighting with Heavy Weapons but make sure to also train strength.

>Longer reach, it's not uncommon with longer reach to hit multiple opponents, so heavy weapons do belong in crowd fighting but they are what other games would call an "off tank" or "2nd line" weapon meaning have the tank draw aggro and the heavy weapon specialist right beside them.

Fragment Axe - Edge 3 quality
Cut Damage 0.55
Blunt Damage 2.88
(total dmg 3.43)
Blood Loss 100
Weight 56kg
Reach 32

Plank - Edge 3 quality
Cut Damage 1.46
Blunt Damage 1.92
(total dmg 3.38)
Blood Loss 100
Weight 38 kg
Reach 30

Falling Sun - Edge 3 quality
Cut Damage 2.19
Blunt Damage 1.60
(total dmg 3.79)
+50% damage vs. Gorillos and Gutters
Blood Loss 100
Weight 31 kg
Reach 25

Combat Analysis
The Plank is probably the best well rounded heavy weapon, "faster" than the axe and not too far behind the Sun because of its weight. It's damage is balanced between cut (i.e. unarmored opponents) and blunt (i.e. armored opponents). If you want a heavy weapon to travel the whole map with the Plank isn't a bad choice.

The Falling Sun is somewhat of an overkill weapon for unarmored opponents (e.g. animals) and its blunt damage is respectable enough that it isn't useless against armored foes. As the lightest weapon it is the fastest and therefore most defensive. Likewise the high cut damage means faster dex training. While still 40% longer than a horse chopper (reach 18), it is the shortest heavy weapon with its range 80% of the axe. If hunting big game the Falling Sun might be what you're looking for.

The Axe while incrediably slow because of its weight, packs a massive blunt damage amount, making it the preimer weapon for downing armored opponents. As robots and armored opponents can be some of the toughest opponents in the game the axe is worth consideration. Its long range makes it an iconic Kenshi weapon often knocking several enemies down at once, though because its slow speed it is important to note it is the least defensive heavy weapon, so plan for this weakness if taking the axe.

Hope this helps!

Fragment axes are better for brawling (a spread hit to the head can cause instently taking down 5 or more clustered opponents) cause slightly better range and damage but lack of cutting damage that cause less deadly hit uppon the enemy with blood loss. But the difference between both are not so large except better is the score (blunt or cut damage) higher are the critical damage hits still exponantial so fragment can reach insane amount.
I have a huge Shek warband and my males use fragment and females plank. They brought the destruction everywhere on their path. "Last stand in the fog islands all pop/npcs/squads sliders on max can u handle it? I do:D"

Whatever heavy weapons need a dex trainning before using them cause dex improve attack and block speed.
