Or at least give us an option to do that. It's honestly weird.

Honestly I like it? It serves as a sort of characterization shorthand. Merris is peppy and upbeat, while the rogue is brief and curt to the point of rudeness. Since there's very little dialogue and it's kept short, I think it communicates a lot with a little, and helps personify them better without needing a lot of text.

it's supposed to add personality to the character. Which one said it, I can't remember. It was Merris right? It just means she's a cheerful character. Let Merris be Merris. I mean jeez. What an A-hole.

She's a Tiktoker:lunar2019grinningpig:.
Which makes absolute zero sense in a fantasy setting that lacks computers.
Indeed, that's what makes it even weirder. Wonder where these folks at this fantasy world learned english, and to speak like that:lunar2019laughingpig:.

probably just trolls looking for ways to talk ♥♥♥♥ behind the safety of a computer screen.

It's like when a kid grows up into a teenager, and they go from using normal diapers to pull-ups. Like, they are too "adult" to watch a Disney movie. They don't like that "kiddy" stuff because they are an adult ;)

So none of you think that this is just placeholder dialogue for EA?

That's just what I assumed. That story isn't their priority right now and that they've just thrown in some dialogue to simply test out their coding of it.

I'm really hoping it is, but so far as I can tell the devs have been silent on multiple threads about the subject, which makes it hard to say.

I agree with the OP - it's just a lot. I think it's fun to see a bit of it, almost like a 4th wall break but when it's prevalent through the whole game it's just kinda weird for me. Not saying that's the case for everyone, but in the humblest and tinest of opinions I would rather see no dialogue than what is currently there. With that said - I love where the plot is going so kind of hoping that what is there is just a placeholder and something more in depth will come out later.

I love the dialogue that's in; it's one of the main things I've referenced when I bring Death Must Die up to friends, is how in this survivors-like, the different characters have their own personalities that are demonstrated even further through even things like different typing styles complete with emojis and internet troll/gamer speak.

If the developers are going for a grimdark vibe, then this completely demolishes it, but Halls of Torment already exists; I say embrace it and be the more fun, more interesting cousin with characters that we might recognize as different friends we spoke to in chat rooms years ago.

So you bring this game to your friends because of weird symbols in text. Gotcha.

That's one of the really good things about this game... Characters don't have voice lines or any lore about them, from the short conversations alone you can prety much get the personality of the character. It's simple and it's briliant. If for someone this is a deal breaker, yeah... go touch some grass, or snow ^.^

Not a fan of them myself, either. Otherwise game is great, though!

I also assumed it was placeholder material, found it harmless enough, even if I did not enjoy it. It isn't some revolutionary way of introducing personality, nor is it the worst writing ever. Just.. simple, bland, and feels more like someone was bored or had no clue how to write dialogue for those types of characters, so they went with cartoonish single-note humor.

Great game either way, I just stop reading when it becomes irritating and focus on the game play bit.
