Skadi's Skill Tree
Although I do miss some of the old builds with infi potential, been overall enjoying the balance changes with act 2. But does anyone else feel Skadi's skill tree is underwhelming? Like the devs didn't know what direction to take with them. The summon perks only apply to the wolves and frankly they don't even keep up with your own damage despite the help. I don't even know when I'd want to run heroic training. Compared to the other characters, her skill tree just looks more barren too, like Merris's is stacked comparatively. Thoughts?

I'm very confused with Heroic Training. I'm sure you can build around this, but it seems as if the game is punishiing you for lucky rolls. Master skill will deal less damage than adept? - bah

Yeah I was hoping she'd have a better identity in act 2. But I'm not even sure what archetype heroic training is suppose to show as a highlander. That she came from humble origins? The other characters feel like they have more defined roles in their build trees.

Looking at her skill slots you can see that she is the only character that doesn't have a category with 1 or 4-5 in it. She has a mix of 2s and 3s, feels like she is supposed to be more of an all rounder.

For skadi you have a lot to do and build around: for example a unique item with" your summon stats also apply to you" combine it with skill tree, other items and you got plenty of ways to play with just one unique. With a second unique which gave you all status effects on attacks you can build around relentress skill tree. There's plenty but find it by yourself. Have fun

Oh for sure, I'm not saying you can't use items to pad what feels missing from a character's gameplay. My thread was more looking at Skadi when compared to the other characters. I was looking at Nixi's tree and they all felt more impactful, and I admit it could be my bias cause my favorite is Skadi. Nixi's gameplay just makes more sense to me. There's Sneaky nixi, crit nixi, poisoner nixi, speedy nixi. They all fit into that rogue archetype and you can further itemize to support that.

Skadi is... Okay Warrior Skadi? She can increase her strike speed, move faster to hit harder, level up and learn skills better. Debuffer Skadi that can apply endless assortment of statuses. Beastmaster Skadi with two wolves, okay. And Prodigy Skadi who maximizes adept offers. Maybe I'm bias since I really like Skadi, but all of her perks just felt like number upgrades that don't really affect how you play skadi compared to the others. Build speed? More summons, more strike? Like sure, but not often are you getting 4-5 summons unless you fish for specific Gods or pray for legendary dragons. But like it doesn't really feel different from anything else you do. Sometimes I don't even remember the wolves I had specced into doing anything cause they get overshadowed by my other summons.

Aside from the debuffs and wolves, they're just not also very mechanically appealing like something from Lorien's projectile spam. Also compare Skadi's Tree with Merris's. It's so stark how much Merris gets as a mage, and you have to scratch your head like "a highlander has two wolves... and moves faster?"

To me it feels like that yeah. When I specced her tree, I couldn't really convince myself to go down one path fully cause the results weren't that impactful, and I ended up doing a mix of everything for flexibility.

Skadi was my favorite character before the patch, but her skill tree is easily the worst, leaving her in kind of an uninteresting place.

I've found a pair of gloves that give a % chance for each of the different status effects on hit. Honestly, I can only get attacking status or strike status to really work. summon builds with the wolf kinda feel bad - although I will say, the fire summons are super duper cute and totally worth using

I love the fire elementals. I also find the unique Possibility that gives you favor for every god quite fun in forcing a summon build.

Definitely hope the devs revisit her with a clearer picture of how they want her. Justice for Skadi
