How to survive the slimes
I cannot for the life of me understand how to survive the slimes. It seems impossible. No matter what ability combo i use i cannot surpass 4:50 minutes because i get swarmed by so many slimes and boxed in an ever shrinking square of flames. it's just....impossible to survive since i die basically instantly when they surround me and it does not seem possible to prevent it. they cannot be outrun and while some character destroy them pretty quickly the autoattack is too slow and i get surrounded and instakilled anyways. How do yuou guys manage to survive that phase? it's hoenstly very frustrating, i've been playing for an hour and still i always die at the same spot.

The first few runs can be really tough and luck dependent until you get some basic gear equipped. Slimes you just want to walk backwards in a circle and try to trim their numbers as much as possible and hold at least one of your dodges until you get surrounded. Having an aoe ability like breath of fire helps huge. Also be sure to do as much exploring as possible, the yellow events can offer huge boons
Keep walking away from the bulk of them, holding on your your dashes. Wait until the very last moment before they catch you and then use both dashes to get through where there's the fewest. There's always one or two spots where you can get through. Then just repeat that until your dashes are up again.
Krom's chains/shurikens
Summer's flare/flame breath or whatever it's called
Time's gem high + aa modifier
Mort's sickles/soulstealers
Leigong's chain lightning
Justice's survival perks if you feel too fragile, but you're better off picking offensive options first

Move in a circle and dash when there's an opening or you're surrounded. Don't spend both dashes at once unless absolutely needed (good advice overall)

This game seems very "luck based." There is a certain point when you have to have the right boons. Not to mention farming for gear is just soul crushing.

Skill will only get you so far. As the poster above me says, try those. Not all Gods are created equal either, which can be another pain point. Justice just doesn't scale. Yeah, you'll live, but the loss in DPS hurts bad. The DPS checks in this game are rough.
I think of this game as cycling between AOE damage checks and single target damage checks. the slime round is your first real AOE check, so If your finding your self struggling I would recommend grabbing your self more AOE spells before the 4:50 mark.

I tend to have the easiest time on that round with the ice, fire or war spells that cast from the player character.

you should also keep in mind about balancing your exploration and exp farming on runs, for some of the points of interest on the map can be just as good as a level up if not better.

If your loot hungry you can say f it to exp farming and just run around robing graves and opening chests. Though I find it a more enjoyable time getting lot from boss drops as grave robing hinders your runs with curse. (I have no clear idea what curses do as I saw I got one and just stopped robbing graves)

... well, you're in for a rough ride if you're talking about the green slimes ;)
Try to get a couple of levels in an AOE ability, stick to the outside of the fire ring and travel in a circle so you minimize the thickness you have to dash through slimes, and note that as long as something doesn't have a blue barrier on their healthbar, your attacks will stun them. Timing an attack right after you dodge will let you get a little further away.

As mentioned above, there is a few cool combos. There is another slime round later with blue slame. Way more of them. With the right skills you can stand in the middle and the chain spins up so fast that you get no dmg at all. Based on quite some stuff that makes rupture and spins up when there is ruptured enemies. It's sometimes really sick on how fast you can kill enemies depending on the luck you had with skills.

Something that also helps: good items at some point. large range to collec stuff and thus. If you have the skill where killed enemies drop exp shards and you have a large area of collecting and you have that you speed up when collecting, that is also a big boost

When it comes to chars - mage and barbarian might be the ones to try with. And if dmg really is not high enough... try to jump as described above before the slime explodes. What i do is "run in circles" on the outer edge... trying to stay ahead of the ones behind, and when there is some coming up from in front... jump so i am ahead of them too

The game is really hard at the start when you got crap gear, and no re rolls for upgrades.

Once you get a decent weapon and some alteration re rolls it gets a lot easier. Once you get epic and mythic gear it gets quite a bit easier.

it would help to see a video to get an idea of what exactly you're doing wrong. idk if I've EVER died to either slime phase
chains of war, chain lightning, necromancy, sickles of mort, blade, and the time forcefield one are lifesavers for this early game horde,, but ofc that's all luck. i recommend also getting any upgrades that increase your spell/attack damage area. :GDNormal:

lmao nobody tell them about the other slimes
They are called Oozes, and you can kill them fast by sticking straw in them and sucking them dry

Unless you are an industrial vacuum cleaner, I think using a weapon is the better option, there.
I've actually never died to them (mmmm I'll have what I'M havinnngggg *snob voice*). You just kite in a big circle around em, using your dash every couple seconds. Dash gives i-frames, so if you just space them out correctly, you'll only take a hit every once and a while cuz you dash through, get hit, but now are in an open spot, they close in, dash through again, they close in, dash through and take a hit again but now you're in an open spot, dash through another, dash through take a hit, dash, open spot, dash.... it's like, you'll still take hits, but it will significantly reduce the amount of hits you take if you dash everytime you get closed in on. Sometimes you can double dash right through the middle of the giant pack and you'll only get hit once during that, but you'll end up in an open spot until they close in on you again, but then you can dash again cuz the dash CD is so low.

I played a lot of soulstone survivors, so I'm quite used to the dash mechanic. Maybe you just have to get used to using it at the right times and get comfortable with the timing of the cooldowns. It's like already muscle memory for me since it's very similar to soulstone survivors.

Just make sure you kinda stay circling around the outer edge of the box and keep your cursor towards the center of the pack. Turn off auto attack if you're using that. The speed penalty on it is rough.
