Is melee/AD kinda weak?
So Ive beat the game a couple of times on various character on d30. Ive tried to make melee/AD work but its always felt weak, even when I focus melee, spells seem to always be top damage, also you have to be in melee range which sucks for everything but first boss. Scaling also seems pretty hard to achieve, you need specific power and specific stats. There seems to be way more options to improve your spell damage than melee damage.
Am I missing something on how to make melee work?

Attack damage is kinda crap, but melee a fine as a vessel to proccing other effect.

Challenge Accepted. Lmao, on a more serious note, I've found that melee can be good if you got the right boons together. The problem is finding the right boons.

Usually if I want a melee build run, I'll first pick up the barbarian with his basic sign. I'll then try and pick up the War Gods melee boon and try to use any of his passives as well. Then I'll end up with God of Time's Gem high, cause that's stupid on it's own in large groups. Along with any passives from time that will help out. (wisdom is dumb when leveled.) Last one can really be anything but the god of thunder's movement speed increase will slowly increase your attack speed as well.

I know you didn't ask for a build setup, but I just wanted to give out what I'd use, just cause I can. Plus if it helps in expanding what people can do, why not?

Looks like Kront and Skadi characters are strongest in my opinion. Yep AD feels bad at first but with end game (1 chapter) all runs became a piece of cake. Some boons on AD much stronger then others and some needs special combination with others. It's kinda obvious that you need build around AD to make it good. And it starts with auto-attack AoE and move speed (and there is two character with some OP skills).

Spell damage affecting so many things like Curse from Ravens, along with the EXP damage from Force going off leaves Attack Damage kind of in the dust. There isn't really a way to ramp attack damage specifically either that doesn't also cause your other effects to go absolutely insane and leave your basic attack in the dust on the final DPS readout.
