In my opinion melee classes are a bit harder since you have to crowd control and are more often in situations where you have to actively dodge, but some people find the sorceress more difficult to play, so I'll have to gather more opinions first.

Melee in these kind of games is a hard thing to come at. Best I’ve seen was the zealer or barbarian from d2. But d2 screwed up some melees as well. Druid melee was severely underpowered. Sorceress enchant melee was laughable. Ok she enchanted her sword still attacks like an old lady. Look to the zealer or whirlwind barb as an example of how to make melee fun.

There is a character in the game that only does a whirlwind.
I'd try the game out before critiquing further.
I did my first Baron kill with Nixi and 45% dodge
Luck with upgrades and you can do it
