What games should I play before Evoland?
I want to buy and play. The premise impresses me and looks interesting.

However, I have missed out on the majority of games which Evoland is likely paying homage to, and hoping to invoke memories and sentiment about. I want to play titles from the original time period(s) before I invest in this work.

Would anyone have any recommendations for contemporary games I could try out from the respective eras Evoland is paying tribute to? Preferably if available on PC or PS4- I want to actually buy and try, not just look them up- but I'm open to almost any suggestion.

Iirc the tribute in the first game is only:
- the legend of zelda (any top down, sprite version. Ex: oracle of season, minish cap)
- final fantasy (any turn-based version. Ex: ff 7, or any similar old turn based games like breath of fire 2 should work)
- diablo (i didnt know much about this in detail since i never play diablo, sorry)

If you want to buy and play recent games that are related to it, you can buy
https://store.steampowered.com/app/446810/
Or https://store.steampowered.com/app/342490/Shipwreck/
For a shorter version (only 3h long iirc)

For legend of zelda

For ff, it's a bit hard since most turn based interfaces are modified years after the initial ff version was released, but you can always buy their remake version

If they are too expensive (they did), just try any rpg maker games. To be honest, steam isnt a good place to find good rpg maker games, but this is the only one i could think of that has the similar look and better quality than other rpg maker games

As for diablo, since i never played it, i cant help much, sorry
