Best Kitchen/Canteen Ratio?
Hey all of you exceptionally gifted architects. I was wondering if someone has already found a reliable way of telling the ideal ratio between your kitchen(s) and your canteen(s). Like how many cookers, fridges and cooks do you need to service X prisoners?

Also, do you build big, central kitchens to supply all your canteens or does every canteen have a small kitchen attached to it? When doing the latter, I noticed the cooks were getting rather confused, mostly due to the fact that you cannot assign cooks to work a certain kitchen - which is a shame. In that particular game, they started stashing supplies in each others kitchens, then they would run across half the map to empty another kitchen's fridge and carry the stuff back to where it was needed - huge waste of time.

What are your kitchen-strategies?

You can get most of the ratios to get an efficient kitchen/canteen layout from the wiki:

I like to limit the amount of kitchens/canteens I have, due to problems you describe and will big bigger, rather than have more rooms. Also depends on your design though. A couple of big kitchens can work fine if staffed enough(over compensate if required).

Hopefully we will get more control over the placement of the lower staff(like we do guards) in time. Oh and make sure you check your logistics so that they are setup correctly in the first place :prisoner:

Generally speaking, the less kitchens you have the less problems you get. I had 2 big kitchens in the middle of the prison, each with a canteen - one for medium, another for max. With 600 prisoners it worked fine.

Then I had a smaller kitchen + canteen for PC, that didn't work so fine due to distance and mad cooks. Like Ric666 said, watching Logistics is crucial.

The wiki's ratios are about right as a minimum, but hiring a bit more usually helps.
