Cheat (if demon encounters are too hard for you)
Encounters with several demons at once were a bit harder that I would like because of the random combination of buttons you need to press very quickly while banishing it (and when you fail you spend some time trying to hide from them) so I searched for a way to cheat and found one. Ideally it would be best to get rid of random key combination, but all I found was a way to make them ignore you so you could skip these fights or banish demons without having to escape, hide and wait if you fail.

I'll leave the instructions here in case somebody would need them:
Navigate to the folder Murdered Soul Suspect\FateGame\Config and open DefaultAIPerceptionData.ini file using Notepad. Look for the line
StimTypes=(TypeName=Player,BaseTypeName=Ghost,Result_Awareness=High)
and change High to Unaware. Save the file, run the game and the demons will ignore you, you can walk past them or try to banish them as many times as you want without them fighting back.

Thank You!
Thanks so much for sharing this. The first encounter freaked me out. I scare easy and was planning to quit altogether. This little change saved the game for me.

Thank you so much OP!

They are not "too hard" per se but the demons and especially the quick time events don't fit in the game. Demon fighting and the rest of the game feel like 2 different games and I'm only interested in one of those games. Why is it so hard for modern developers to believe games can be intriguing without a stapled on QTEs everywhere?

Thank you! Playing the game for a second time with a friend, because we just want to share the story, and these demons just take the fun out of it : )

Quoted it with a bit of a format and no spoilers so it's easier to use while looking in the files : )

Thanks again!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for this tip! I'm a long time fan of stealth combat games (as an example of what I mean, I've got Ghost/Shadow/Pacifiist achievements on the Dishonored and Deus Ex franchises) but imo there was no strategy or tactics to the demon combat mechanic in this game. Simply randomizing the key and mousebutton combos is just mindlessly obstructionist.

Of course a truly usable stealth combat mechanic would have been a lot better than making the demons unaware, but this workaround still beats the current QTE/guess the roll of the dice nonsense (the most serious failing of an otherwise badly underrated game).

Thank you so much! I will be trying this. I put the game on hold for months because I couldn't get past those meany ghost banshees. I did search for a cheat and wasn't successful until today, now I can continue the mystery!

thanks. Only played through a bit and just thought Demons were a cheap way to extend the game length.

You are amazing for this. Thank you! Hated those things.

Finished the game and absolutely loved it. Might rate it an 8/10 except for some really wonky play quirks and having difficulty lining up the camera angle just right so I could pick up stuff or reveal clues I needed. Just weird controls (m/k).

As it is, if I had to face all those annoying demons for the last half of the game, I'd rate it like a 5/10 for just being annoying for no reason. Complete waste of time, those things. Never should have been added to such a coolly cinematic experience, and then have it drug down with such an annoying and tedious mechanic like that.
