Can't walk past a demon because of this priest glitch please help

So I am at the church at I'm trying to get past the demon lava on the floor in the rectory room, but I can't possess the old man because the priest is glitched. Instead of him vaccuming across the laava he goes up and down the floor on the other side! he doesn't even walk across the lava?! this is a pic of what i mean http://imgur.com/8wucTNq just look how far he is?! And i watched youtube videos he shouldn't be doing that so I guessed it was a bug. I tried restarting my game but that didn't work, I tried verifying the cache but that didn't work either.

Are you sure you have to posses him? Look for another way around (is the cat anywhere?).

Omg yes I'm sure I have watched youtube videos of the same chapter I'm on tons of times and people had to possess that old man to get across that hole. There is NO cat and there is no other way to continue in this church I have looked EVERYWHERE

Poltergeist some nearby stuff, possess him / it , find another way. If neither works (E.g. in the video at 8.45 I would restart at checkpoint and hope that it will not glitch out again...

Ive done all of that mate there isin't hope in hell I should just reinstall the game cus its clearly bugged and obviously nobody can figure out an actual way to fix this

Have you approached the demonic barrier? There may be some trigger nearby that makes the priest cross over to you. Just a guess though.

I ran into this problem today. 5 times in a row the priest glitched. I "fixed" it by activating v-sync and starting from last checkpoint, in case anyone else tries to find a solution.

I understand there is a problem but wouldn't reloading the last checkpoint solve it?

It doesn't corvus I had to litterly reinstall the game, Luckily my data was saved on steam cloud.

You need to activate a specific cutscene to change priest to walk across.

Maybe sometimes that cutscene doesn't trigger the change. I got stuck in like one of the first few cases due the game bugged out and didn't trigger something when I skipped the cutscene.

I have noticed that skipping cutscenes can cause bugs sometimes. It's really something they overlooked during the testing.

Turning on the v-sync literally worked for me lol.

v-sync fixes it because the priest moves at a higher framerate thus he walks faster but his animation is bound to a certain time period so he walks through the wall instead of towards the vaccuum cleaner
