solved the startup crash/loading problem, maybe? o_O
hello everyone (anyone).
a mini, not too terrible what to do, how to do to get the game to run guide for you here. i haven’t really found any written on here so far so thought why not share my own findings?
if it’s helpful then great, cheers. if not, then you haven’t lost anything giving this a go.

1.
turn off, exit out of any recording software. i use DXtory. for me i normally use this to find out what my frame rate is more than any actual recording. i’ve found that with this game, while DXtory is running will crash on start up.
it’s a minor thing to over look, so if you’re having trouble and running any software which records, and/or shows your frame rate then try playing with out it to see if it is a conflict. even if it isn’t, you’ve eliminated one possibility of what might be wrong.

2.
create a shortcut for Murdered Soul Suspect .exe
however, don’t right-chick and ask Steam to make you one. for some odd reason my computer see’s the shortcut as a web url and won’t let me do what i will mention next.
so file location is Murdered Soul Suspect / Binaries/Win64/Murdered.exe
right-click > create shortcut > drag/drop shortcut on desktop > right-click it > properties > shortcut tab > find target:, and the end of the “text” press space, add, and type -dx9
this should get the game up and running. it runs perfectly fine, only you don’t get to use Steam overlay or get any notifications or achievements pop up. you still get them, along with the Steam trading cards for the game but you won’t see anything pop up on screen.

3..
lets fix this game shall we?
at the time of writing, this game seems to have a problem running with a certain DirectX file.
i went to the following locations on my computer, Windows/System32 & Windows/SysWOW64. my latest d3dx9_xx file (again, at the time of writing) is, or was d3dx9_43. i deleted this file from both the locations listed and downloaded, and updated/installed the latest dx from the web installer.
Steam was closed while doing this so i would suggest doing that, then a restart of your computer.

this has done it for me. now everyone has different setups so one solution won’t solve them all. don’t be fooled into downloading some third party programs like some are suggesting. the first solution i found i totally overlooked. perhaps you have too, or perhaps you haven’t.
some people don’t regularly update their graphics drivers, some people don’t even have the recommend hardware. i do, and yet i still ran into problems. i can run this game at 2560x1440 and the frame rate around 120fps - 140fps on max settings, plus with a few .ini edits.
it is annoying, it is frustrating when a game you’ve brought doesn’t work, so having found a possible solution i wanted to share it with others. those who have read this, thank you for you time.

Win 10 users might want to skip #2. Did nothing for me. Trying #3 now. Will update in a bit.

Tried deleting and re-installing DirectX. Didn't help either. Going to give up and try my desktop. Would be great to solve it tho, I think it's the same problem that's keeping D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die from running.
