Ending inconsistencies
Hello, i have a problem with Abigails logic of killing. Why did she of recent began killing? Why not 7 years prior, or 100 years prior?

References were made ingame of a string of murders in the 20's and 70's but no connection was ever made with the main plot otherwise. I have a hard time believing that since her death in 1693, she only began her vengence as of 2014(presuming the game takes place during the release of this game).

Also, i find it even more hard to believe that Rex got off scott free. I mean he wakes up with blood on his hand and 2 dead cops infront of him.

I also wanted better closure with the Ronan and Julia subplot. I mean how hard was it to show us Ronan walking into the light towards Julia???

6/10 game.

I was also dissapointed about the ending but i don't think it is inconsistent. We don't find out about Abigails logic of killing and she didn't explain it to us before she left. She had probably possessed and murdered many people since 1693, but it's also possible that she had started with it in the 20th century, or she had killed every 43 years. Or maybe there is simply no logic at all.

About Rex, i think he is not guilty, because when he was comitting the murders he was possessed by Abigail, and he knew just as little what he was doing, as Ronan did when he himself killed Sophia. Joy knew that and she was the only witness. Also in the end we get told, that this case was never officially closed.

I think the Julia subplot was really the weakest part of the game, it was only needed to give us a reason for Ronan to solve his own case. But reading all her writings made me want to stay in this in-between stage of life and death rather than crossing the bridge. =)

I am really displeased with ending, especially that Ronan killed Sophia was a shock. But apart from that last 5 minutes i really enjoyed the game and storyline.

hmm. While I too was somewhat underwhelmed by the ending, I do believe it was all fully explained with regards to Abigail.

Ronan believed it was a string of copycat serial killers throughout the past as well as the present. However this changes after investigating the Judge's house and he realizes it was Abigail the whole time.

You just have to add in a very important letter from a state official ordering all witches be released from prison and an end put to the witch trials, read the words of the cinematic and fill in some grey areas to get your answer.

CINEMATIC J=Judge, A=Abigail
J-You claim righteousness, but you know your guilt and cannot deny your punishment is due.
A-I thought you stood for justice! How is this just?!
J-The courts are not a place for your murderous whimsy! You are a corrupt heathen! The families of those innocent souls you executed through false accusation of witchcraft, will exact their righteous justice tonight!
A-False accusation? *she draws the bell symbol in the dirt*
J-What is that nonesense you draw?!
A-My mark will burn like a brand in the flesh of this town! If it takes me to the ends of eternity, I will personally make the bell toll for every witch in Salem.

(AKA she's gonna hunt down witches and kill them and leave her mark so people would know it was her for eternity)

SUMMARY
-Abigail believes in witches and that they should die.
-During the witch trials, Abigail reported a large number of people for witchcraft.
-Said people were convicted and put to death.
-State official puts an end to witch trials. Demands all prisoners be set free.

******here's where you have to fill in the blanks)

-Judge and other local officials were most likely under pressure - people wanted justice
-Judge arrests Abigail, implying she accused witchcraft to commit murder
-Abigail is used as a scapegoat by the Judge and community. (even if it was the Judge who did the sentencing and ordered the "witches" be put to death)
-Abigail feels betrayed. (MOTIVE)
-Abigail asserts she will continue to kill witches and leave her mark to remind them of her.

However, I think it may have been a bit deeper and more sinister - seeing as she definitely was very amused by the act of possessing people and using them to carry out her crimes.

You could say, she was killing two birds with one stone. LOL

As for Rex, he may have gotten away with it. Forensics would prove it was the fat officer who shot his buddy and then shot himself in the head. Rex could easily have gotten rid of the gloves and there would be no evidence that he killed Baxter or w/e his name was in the Judgement house. Then again, who's to say that body would ever be found. No one knew about it because Rex would have no memory of it and Ronan never told Joy about it.

The Julia subplot.. i just consider that "filler". Just like the ghost stories.. tho i really did enjoy the ghost stories the most. My favorite was "Watery Grave" (the very first one)
