Ubisoft servers unavilable
Can't make a ubisoft account for Uplay, so I can't play the game - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this is the last time I ever try to play a ubisoft game regardless of it's rating.

Okay, well, I just started to play this game, and every time it can't connect to the servers, the game sits there for at least a minute.

By golly, that's irritating!

Hey BionicDance,

The servers for the original Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon were discontinued in 2020.

We are aware that it takes a while to get in as the game still attempts to connect and this has been noted to the relevant teams.

If there's anything more we can answer or help with, please let us know!

Hello there tiny E and BionicDance,

:steamhappy:

I understand that the investigation into the Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon servers has been ongoing for some time now.

The issue--for me--isn't so much how long it's been going on, but that it's been going on for so long for something so darned simple.
I wouldn't be harping on this if I didn't think what I see happening, being done by Ubisoft, doesn't make any sense.

Please note that the Player Support team are unable to speculate on how long an investigation may take

If I'm right about what I see happening, it shouldn't even take an hour.

or when any ETAs for a resolution may be available.

I factored the resolution into my "shouldn't even take an hour" comment above.

I mean, I get that you guys have to give us the completely opaque corporate reply that tells us nothing more detailed than "Hurry up and wait", and even more importantly, tells us nothing new. And that always seems shady. You have to know that; surely you've been on the other end of it, yourself.
But when the solution seems so amazingly simple yet it's being treated like a bill being presented to Congress, alarm bells start ringing; it sounds like there is more going on...or the problem has to work its way through a very convoluted corporate structure before there can be action taken on it.

It's very funny the singleplayer game is trying to find some servers. It never had any online services. No multiplayer, no competition with friends, no leaderboards. NOTHING! Maybe some sort of hidden telemetry, statistics for developers..

Ubisoft HATES Steam, not sure why, they have some of the GREATEST creators, but Ubisoft MONEY people, appear to be some of the worst in the industry. I will NOT put ANY stocks in Ubisoft. Ubisoft loves $$ FAR more than people, it appears.
Are they ever gonna fix the Ubisoft server connection failures at menu?
Is is SOOOOO annoying to have it lock up for 30 seconds while the game tries to connect to an ubisoft server that doens't exist anymore
Add -offline as a command line argument in Steam's Properties for the game to remove it from the title screen.
Follow this to remove it from the pause menu.

Does this do anything about the Win 7 problem? They updated their launcher and botched it badly bur say they aren't going to fix it according to their forums,

Hello pkeike, we are not planning on supporting the Windows 7 launcher, as Microsoft no longer supports it themselves and no longer updates it, so as a security concern, we have opted to follow Microsoft's example.

Some players were able to continue to play our games on Windows 7 systems using an old installation of Uplay, but we have to advise against this for security reasons as that launcher is outdated and no longer updated either, because we transitioned to the Connect launcher instead.

As for the loading screen that appears that try to connect you to the server, this is something we have forwarded to the relevant teams, but we are unable to say if this is able to be patched out of the game in future.

Ubisoft wants its cake and yours too.

Support staff don’t seem to know that the servers for this game and others have been shutdown - by Ubisoft, not by naughty internet gremlins - and keep trotting out the same useless memes about reinstalling this that and the other and repeatedly mentioning that ‘it’s an old game’. All the while this game, and others with the same issue, are still available to buy - from Ubisoft’s store. And at $14.99 it’s not cheap for a game that, according to Ubisoft, is an old game that won’t be updated.

It seems to me that many of the technical problems relating to Ubisoft are mainly due to the overly complex hubristic and neurotic coding. Why do they need multiple drm technologies? Why does one have to login to ubi connect AND then login again to start the game. The U isoft website displays this overly complec approach too - so many forwards to sub domains, checking domains. One has to log in multiple times and then the site is so over designed that the needless graphics and animations actually get in the way of using the site.

I have recently migrated from a Windows 10 PC to a new Windows 11 PC. i successfully migrated and tested as working 200 games, some of which are a lot older than FarCry3.
Only 3 games don’t work - FarCry 3, FC3 Blood Dragon, and FarCry 2. FC3 is on Ubi Connect, Blood Dragon is on Steam AND Ubi and FC2 is the GOG version. I’m pretty sure I will be able to get FC2 running, but the other ‘old games that are still on sale’?

Noted, and yet the game is still on sale on the Ubisoft site!
Why is Ubisoft selling games that, by its own admission, are not supported on modern versions of Windows?

This game has become abandonware through ubisoft's negligence.

Anyone saying otherwise, especially ubisoft employees; are willingly ignoring the facts.
Redirects to redirects to redirects to sites that no longer exist anymore, all because of Ubisoft's iron fist/fear of DRM protection on a decade old game.

Lol. Just lol.
Agreed. Although technically it’s not abandonware because Ubisoft is still selling it.
Ubisoft knows the game is problematic on the only current versions of Windows, yet it still takes people’s money. Make of that what you will.

Why is Ubisoft selling games on its web store that are listed as only for obsolete versions of Windows?
You guys need to get some sort of consistent story. You support staff are telling people over and over again on support forums that these ‘old games’ don’t run on modern operating systems, and you are claiming here explicitly that Windows 7 is not supported.
Have you looked on the Ubisoft store recently? How many games are you taking money for when you absolutely know that they will not run and you will not support them?
It’s disgusting and disgraceful behaviour and is tantamount to false advertising.

Hey guys,

Our legacy titles should still work on Windows 10 / 11 machines and modern setups, although some may require some additional configuration or steps (such as running them in Compatibility Mode for example).

As the Ubisoft Connect launcher no longer supports Windows 7 and is required for most of our titles, in turn, these games cannot be run on the OS.

Feedback regarding these title's listed system requirements has been noted to make this clearer to players, but beyond this there are no further plans to reinstate support for Windows 7 machines now that the OS is no longer officially supported by Microsoft or receiving further firmware updates.

Yeah, I'm pretty darn sure that's not the issue people are talking about, here.

It's the long delays while the game attempts to contact servers that no longer exist.

It seems to me to be a simple, simple patch to tell the game to not try to contact the servers, to rip that part of the code--the server check--right out, make it no longer even exist. Bypass the procedure entirely.

That's what people are asking you to fix.
