How-to: getting a log and crash dump files
This tutorial explain how you can get game logs and crash dump. Normally crash dumps upload is fully automatic, but for troubleshooting it's sometimes required to manually upload crash dump or just find it's ID.

Log files and crash dumps do not contain any private information, so you can post them publicly.

Game log location
Game data location different across OS:
  • For Windows:
    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\
    AppData is hidden directory; toggle "Show hidden files and folders" to open it:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

  • For Mac OS X:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/log/

  • For GNU/Linux & SteamOS:
    ~/.local/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/log/
    Please keep in mind that only game errors appear in log. E.g library-related errors only appear in console output.

Getting game log
To get game logs just open "log" directory and copy files from here.

If you need fresh game log then remove all files inside "log" directory and run game again.
New file will be created and it's will contain all game output.

Find crash dump ID
This part of instruction is for Windows-only for now.

If you were asked to get crash dump then you need to do that:
  • Open log file with any text editor.
    For Windows I'm recommend Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org]
  • Go to end of file and find strings that looks like that:
    CrashID=bp-f176dd3e-3aaf-4784-b64f-d7d072141102 crashupload returned success
  • Your crash dump ID will be "bp-f176dd3e-3aaf-4784-b64f-d7d072141102".

  • Important note: Check next line after "Upload command" for something like that:
    [02:07:27.918] INFO Upload limit reached
    That mean crash dump wasn't uploaded automatically so you need upload file even you only asked about crash ID.

  • OUTDATED To get crash dump just open this directory:
    C:\Users\#USERNAME#\AppData\Local\Temp\
    And find file from log, e.g "bp-f176dd3e-3aaf-4784-b64f-d7d072141102".

Uploading your crash dump
You can get to this page from Steam or Uber forums.

For Steam use any file sharing service, I'm use this one:
http://www.sendspace.com/
Just select your crash dump or/and log and press "Upload".
When uploading finished just copy "Download Link" and post it in your topic.

For Uber forums just click on "Upload a File" button.
