Maps take a lot of time to load and sometimes because unresponsive

Planetary Annihilation becomes unresponsive way too often, and sometimes simply clicking without the mouse makes PA crash. When I start a game, after loading ends, I see the full map from above with no UI (or UI loads in slowly). Sometimes it's not a problem, but recently it takes even more time to load, and when everything finally loaded, my commander is already spawned on a random planet even though I didn't click anything.
Is there any way to make the game load faster, or disable auto-spawning?

Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date and that you have multi-threading enabled in game Settings > Server and set Local Server to "Auto".
