How to roam properly?
Alright so I'm loving the game so far, however I'm having an issue, I can't get units to roam properly. Set up some space units but I couldn''t get them to just wander around in orbit, same with ground troops. Also having issues with patrol though I think i figured it out mostly.

supposedly there is an area patrol, but I can't get that to work in space when I tried.

Select the units you wish to use to patrol.
Go to the right hand side of the screen, there should be a bar.
Select the icon that is labeled as "Patrol"
Left click and HOLD anywhere on the planet's surface
Drag until the green highlight covers the entire planet (You'll know if it goes around the side)
Let go of left click.

Some planets, like magma and metal, are finnicky with the dragging. Make sure you're dragging where there's land; lava lakes and metal trenches will mess with the area command.

Alright thanks, another issue I'm having, i set commander to return fire but he still shoots down scouts, making the enemy aggro before I have time to even build anything. Is there a fix for this?

I believe return-fire is broken.

Him shooting down scouts doesn't cause the aggro, though. It may speed it up, but the moment he knows you're there, his brain has plotted all the meticulous steps to wipe you off planet.

Ah, that's too bad. I was hoping that I could just be "peaceful" for a while to build up a bit before the attack. I am already comparing this a lot to spore galactic edition lol, that would be nice to have like in spore.

Try not to be passive for more than two minutes after a round starts. You need to attack first and draw their attention away from attacking you.
The three simple rules are: Always expand, always attack, and always scout.
