Intel HD Graphics... Should I get this game?
I have intel HD 3000 Integrated graphics. I don't care if i can't run P.A. on high, and as long as I get at least 20 FPS on low quality, I will be happy... can I get that? Will the game even start up on my computer?

I'm surprised your computer can even launch steam, here are the MINIMUM system requirements:
Windows Vista, 7 or 8, Linux, or Mac OS/X 10.7+
We recommend 64-bit version, but 32-bit is supported in Windows
Mac and Linux require 64-bit
Dual core processor
We highly recommend having a DX11 capable card, and if discrete graphics (ATI/Nvidia), at least 1GB of dedicated system memory, and if running UMA integrated graphics such as Intel HD 3000/4000, at least 4GB of system memory
Open GL capable video card with Shader 3.0 support
Internet connection for internet connected gameplay
Additional requirements still to be set

Are those requirements for *steam? I apologise, i didn't give complete specs. I am running on an Inspiron Laptop, with an i5 GPU, 8 gigs of ram, and (the big downside) Intel HD graphics. Due to that single problem, could there be a chance that i could run P.A. to the above expectations?

"and if running UMA integrated graphics such as Intel HD 3000/4000, at least 4GB of system memory"

Well, works for me! Now I just gotta figure out why the hell I'm getting a "pa.exe has stopped working" error immediately on start-up...

Cal, i believe that the requirements that [Gλ∅s⌖] ArtaficialAI listed were for Steam, not for P.A.

Probably not worth it w/ Intel HD 3000 graphics.

I have laptop with Intel HD3000 and 4GB RAM so I sometimes test fame on it.

No, you won't get above 20FPS even on pretty small planets. On middle size moons you'll start with ~15-25FPS and in late game it's will be 7-9FPS at best. Though some nice 1v1 with real player or 1v1v1v1 with AIs is still possible, but laggy.

So if you're not okay about the lag then it's likely not worth it.

Yes it's will run if you install most recent drivers.

To update drivers download and install "win64_152822.exe" from Intel website:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23764
If you get "not validated for this computer" error download ZIP version of driver ("win64_152822.zip") from same page and then install it using this instruction:

You'd be surprised at the other games that work with Intel 3000. I can run Shogun 2 on my laptop, which does require the lowest graphic settings, but it does run. And that game is otherwise very graphics-intense.

Yeah, Crysis 2 runs fairly well. I just wanted to make sure that P. A. is playable. I googled gameplay for it, and i couldn't find anything. Probably because nobody wants to watch a game at 9 fps.

What is Als? I may just buy the game, knowing that it will at least start up.

Total War games use a lot of hacks that let them decrease polygon count, but those usually only work when camera and it's speed limited somehow.

PA is game on real 3D globe that generated on the fly before game and you can instantly change camera position, run Picture in Picture and ChronoCam. So there just a lot less hacks can be used and a lot more work require to make them looks good.

Just for example: in Total War there usually like 10,000 units on all map and most of times a lot less. In PA there can be 100,000-150,000 trees on one 900-1300 meters earh planet. So this game is heavy.

PS: Don't forget about your topic!

Artificial intelligence.

Thanks very much for answering my questions. I am going to go ahead and wait on this game. Maybe there will be performance boosts in the future, and I'll look back into it. Again, thanks!
