Unable to build Advanced Factories or units...
I have searched high and low and have been unable to find a way to build advanced units.

I start off a single-player game with the computer.

I do the initial build, eventually build a factory, the factory is able to build Fabrication Vehicles, however those, nor my Commander, have ANY options to build ANY sort of advanced factories or units (air, land, sea, or orbital). The only factory options I have are your basic Vehicle Factory or Orbital Launcher (the latter is only able to build the orbital transport).

Needless to say, I am easily defeated again and again.

Is this a bug? Is there a research option I am missing somewhere? I have searched on the Wiki and forums and everyone seems to be talking about how once you build the initial factory, you can build advanced ones with their corresponding fabrication units. Well, the only fabrication units I even have are the basic fab vehicles and my commander and neither of them are able to build anything advanced.

The computer starts building air units asap and slowly proceeds to overwhelm me.

Help!

In Galactic war you start with just basic vehicles, basic orbital, and defenses. Every time you conquer a system you gain a technology, such as a damage boost, basic air, an eco boost, advanced vehicles, artillery, ETC. In multiplayer and skirmish matches you have access to all technology.

Hmmm okay. Kind of strange then that the AI already has access to air and advanced mortar/turret units. I'll play along and see if I can just overwhelm with a swarm of basic tanks then :)

its like that to make it more of a challange to the player.

Played the game for 6 hours straight; I think I understand now. Due to the random galaxy generation each time you start a campaign, it's pretty much a luck of the draw. Ended up finding advanced orbital and vehicle tech the second time around and have been cruising through since then. AMAZING GAME by the way! I can't believe how addictive it is.

Larger galaxies are easier than small ones because more uninhabited planets and therefore chances for tech.
Also seems to be more systems with easy AI commanders.

They may wish to change some of these features, I have had to restart three main games now because I cannot get Orbital tech and the computer starts with it. It verrrry difficult at least for me to invade a system with five planets when all I have is ground tech (by luck of the draw) and they have full oribatl advantage.

The other way to play right now SP is Skirmish. You make a private MP game but don't allow any human players besides yourself. Then you can play against the AI with all of the tech available to you, provided you follow the build tree. You can custom create your own system and handicap yourself or the AI however you like. Galactic War is unbalanced and unfinished as of today.

any idea why i cannot build a naval factory? yes ive built it in water, but my fabrication vehicles and commander just stop and dont bother trying to build it. they walk to the shoreline and ive got it set as close to the shore as i can make it. what am i doing wrong?

Commanders can enter water, but vehicle and bot fabricators can't and they don't have the build range to construct a naval facility from onshore. Have the commander do it solo and it should work.
