Bug [Linux]: Game immediately crashes with "Illegal Instruction (core dumped)"
The game doesn't even open a window... just crashes. Anyone have any ideas what is going on here?

I'm running into this exact same issue too.

Me too, on a 64bit gentoo with AMD processor and graphics.
I get these results:

I have the same issue, Fedora 20 x64, Nvidia 760 GTX with 346.47 driver, AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU, 8Gb RAM.
abelthorne Apr 1, 2015 @ 4:07am
Same issue on Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit and an AMD GPU (RadeonHD 7770). I first thought it crashed because I was using Mesa but it still does after installing Catalyst.
akmelius Apr 1, 2015 @ 4:26am
Amd Phenom II 1045T the same problem. I'm using nvidia latest drivers.
yaros Apr 1, 2015 @ 5:16am
The same problem. Debian testing 64 bit, Nvidia 660 GTX
synrgy87 Apr 1, 2015 @ 6:15am
Getting this also, :( seems a lot of people are but also seems like some can play, hopefully can be fixed soon :)

Phenom II 1090T / R7 260X Catalyst drivers 64bit Manjaro.

No log file being generated in "home/.local/share/Flying Wild Hog/" the directory isn't even being created.

The problem is the same with the Phenom II. Almost every complex fps game has this problem. We have to wait at least 3 or 4 days to play.

Always the same. Games not testet against Phenom II.

Had not noticed this with other games, but maybe i need to upgrade my 5 year old CPU lol

edit from looking into the error, it seems maybe the game executable was compiled with features that our CPUs dont support. so you are probably right.

I've been thinking that myself for a while, problem is no modern CPU will fit in my motherboard so I'd need a new one of those too, possibly then new RAM. Gets expensive quickly, so many games I then couldn't buy :(

Sorry to hear this, I'll be looking into the issue. Thanks a ton for the backtrace (love you Linux guys). Could I also get your log.txt contents? It is located:

~/.local/share/Flying Wild Hog/Shadow Warrior/

Thanks.

In my case, the game doesn't even open a window, it crashes immediately (click "play" -> Steam avatar border turns green to show that in game -> core dump -> avatar border back to blue). As synrgy87 points out, the Flying Wild Hog directory isn't even created.

My CPU is an AMD Athlon II X3, PC is from 2010. Not sure it helps.

This seem to be specific to AMD Phenom II or Athlon CPUs. Doesn't happen on my Intel Core i7 2600K, which is also not that new.

Maybe Phenom II is not supporting some SSE extensions? My CPU seems to support SSE 1 to 4 (from cat /proc/cpuinfo -> flags:):

fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good nopl xtopology nonstop_tsc aperfmperf eagerfpu pni pclmulqdq dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm pcid sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt tsc_deadline_timer aes xsave avx lahf_lm ida arat epb pln pts dtherm tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid xsaveopt
synrgy87 Apr 1, 2015 @ 7:56am
The Phenom II's have SSE SSE2 SSE3 & SSE4a but no SSSE3 / SSE4.1 SSE4.2

Flags from the same command

fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good nopl nonstop_tsc extd_apicid aperfmperf pni monitor cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw ibs skinit wdt nodeid_msr cpb hw_pstate npt lbrv svm_lock nrip_save pausefilter vmmcall

I believe I may be able to lower the SSE 4.1 requirement to sse2 as soon as later today. Thanks for all of the detailed info everyone, stay tuned.
